Error importing Route created with Basecamp into BMW Navigator V

For the purpose of trip planning, I have received a set of GPX files.
In order to create routes, I understand one way is to copy the GPX files directly into the device, import the tracks and create routes from them. The latter process works but is very slow.
For this and other reasons, I want to go the BaseCamp route: the GPX files import flawlessly in the software; I can then easily (and fast !) create routes from the tracks in the GPX; I then transfer these routes to the device. So far so good.
But in the device, when I import any of these routes, I get the error: (translated from french) "Impossible to import [name of the route]". Pretty unhelpful, huh ?
I have already created routes (small ones, from scratch) with BaseCamp and they import without problem in the device, but these ones, converted by BaseCamp from GPX files just don't import.
How can I get some clues about the reason of the failure ? Is it the number of waypoints ? Other data in the file ????
Please help !
  • Attach a file here or give us a link to it and someone may be able to help, but without seeing a file no one can tell you what's wrong. Number of points could be an issue as you can only have up to 30 waypoints in a route on your device, as far as I'm aware but I don't have your model.

Reading the device's doc (in french, sorry if the terminology isn't well translated), I see that indeed planned routes support max 29 stops and 50 waypoints between each of them.
I guess then that when the device creates a route from the track in the GPX, it makes sure these limits are not crossed, while when BaseCamp creates a route from the same GPX track, by default it will override this limits by default (if the track is long enough)
