Basecamp routes gone haywire

Hi all - Basecamp does crazy stuff with my routes.
Doesn´t matter if I try to convert tracks to route or a bunch of new waypoints to a route, it creates wild haywire, as seen in the attached picture

Any ideas about what this can be?
  • Yes, you're using a map that is routeable but that doesn't cover the trails your routes are trying to use, so BaseCamp is joining the points on the route to the nearest 'routeable' point on the map you've now selected.

Either use a map that will route along the trails you want or select Direct Activity, and not any other.

    Basecamp routes gone haywire

...does that mean I can´t simply create a route in the wilderness and follow the blue line?
Where I usually go there aren´t any trails.
I need a GPS unit that can guide me via a pre-drawn route, through fog and snowstorms..

I´ll have a look at the Direct Activity option, and see if it will allow me to go into the wild :)
  • The direct activity will do what you want, or you can create a track instead of a route.

Thanks! That made everything clearer. I was afraid Garmin had gotten Windosiosis - where you are forced to let software make choices you really don´t want to make.
