When I connect de Zumo 590 to the mac and start Basecamp , basecamp crasht while loading the map from Zumo. I use Basecamp 4.6.3, Zumo 590 V3.30 en city navigator Europe 2017.10.
When I not connect the Zumo, Basecamp works normal.
  • Perhaps you could give a bit more detail about this? What do you mean by BC crashes? Does it freeze? If so at what point? Are there any error messages?

Have you tried running BC and then connecting your Zumo? What happens if you try it that way around?
  • A few other things to try:

Make sure your zumo is connected directly to a USB port on the computer (you don't say which kind of Mac), not to a hub, not to a keyboard.

With BC not running, does your zumo show up on the desktop? If not, try another USB cable.

Un-mount any other USB drives that may be connected and unplug them, then reboot your Mac, launch BC, then once the map stored on your Mac is fully drawn on the screen, connect your zumo (what sussamb said). If that still causes a crash, try the opposite: disconnect all USB drives and your zumo, plug in your zumo, wait for its icon to appear on the desktop, then launch BC.

You should not have to go through all this every time, but if you report the results here we may be able to figure out what is wrong.

I am using Imac 27 inch late 2014, IOS 10.11.6, Zumo 590 version 3.30, City Navigator Europe NTU 2017.10, Basecamp version 4.6.3.
Zumo is connected direct to the iMac, not to hub. I have removed Basecamp with Cleanmymac and reinstall again Basecamp. I have reinstall the map to the Zumo. And reinstall the firmware 3.30.
When zumo is not connected, basecamp will start and work normal. When I connect the Zumo, Basecamp read the map untill 80% and then freeze. No error message. I can only force stop to close basecamp.
  • Sounds like a corrupted map or a problem with your usb port ... but impossible to be sure. Do your usb ports go to sleep?

usb is not going to sleep. Zumo is working normal on the bike and no problem with navigation. I have also VMware fusion with Windows 10 on the iMac. Basecamp and the Zumo is there working normal. When the map is corrupt it wil also not working with windows i believe.
  • Try creating a new account and install BC to that account. I do not trust automated cleanup programs such as CleanMyMac or, even worse, MacKeeper, the latter having caused lots of reported damage.

I made een new account and still basecamp will not load the map
  • Is the root filesystem of your iMac case sensitive? If so BaseCamp used to be able to see a connected GPS but could not communicate and wasn't astute enough to report anything was amiss. Perhaps current versions have this working better but it's still not fixed completely:

Today a case-sensitive Time Capsule archive on not-sensitive root filesystem confuses BootCamp into asking permission to scan the mounted volume.

the root of the iMac is not case sensitive
  • Another wild guess: have you done any map updates using this Mac? I ask because if there are remains of a failed map update in the ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps folder, it can cause problems.
