I've been using Basecamp since it came out, and Mapsource before that, so I have a pretty good grasp on waypoints, tracks, etc. But one thing has eluded me for sometime. What use does the Add File Link... function do in a waypoint? My latest Garmin GPSr is a Dakota 20, so I'm not sure if later Garmin units use certain files within waypoints. I can see how some of the Garmin Android based units could use the web link, but I don't know how to use the file link. Any pointers? Thanks!
For the most part that is simply for organizing your data in BaseCamp, e.g. sticking a pdf about a POI for later reference. Obviously, attached photos can be sent to some devices, but there's a more explicit way to attach photos.
