Garmin Montana 600 and GPX files

Hi

I have a garmin forerunner which i've created hundreds of GPX files over the years.

I've now bought a Garmin Montana 600 with the GB DISCOVERER 1:50K map and would like to get turn by turn nav from my GPX files.

Their off road mountain trails and green lanes etc etc

I have uploaded a GPX file and can view on the montana.....but how do I then get that to start a turn by turn .....???

I just cannot work this out

Could you please help ?

What is a track, route etc etc ?

U need to convert your tracks to routes if u want turn by turn navigation.
also the maps needs to support routing.

try here to get the diffrents between route and tracks.

Get that now....next question how does one convert a track to a route ?

Open the tracks in basecamp, right click on a track and choose "create route from track".

Make sure u switch off automatic route re-calculation on your Montana before u going to use the routes.

setup>Routing>Calculation method.

this depends in which activity profile u are in.

I've converted a track into a route now, but the pink track is slightly different to the route ?

So in basecamp the track is pink and the route is red, but they don't totally match, why is this ?

Maybe u took paths that are not on the map, the calculation takes the paths that are closest to your track.

if I were u I wouldn't converted your tracks and leave them as they are. Just use your tracks for navigation.

Ok

If I just use a track does the arrow track the path ? so I can just look where I'm going ?

Jep, that's how it works. Find a good to read zoom level and start following the track.
