Installing maps to Basecamp

I have a few questions on how to read Garmin maps into Basecamp:

- When we buy online, we have an option to download the maps (or via SD Card)
- When we choose download, I guess this download after the purchase happens through Garmin express directly onto the device which needs to be connected to the PC/MAC
- Then how do we install these maps in Basecamp in MAC?

You can't, downloaded maps aren't available in Basecamp unless you have the device or sd card installed. You can however create a virtual drive and place the map files in that for Basecamp to read.

got several img files on my device - how to determine which is the correct one ?
