Map France for Basecamp

I have tried using Basecamp last year when preparing for a trip to France and found it quite hard, having had to move from Mapsource (on my old windows laptop) to a Mac, which doesn't take Mapsource.

I am starting again now, have fairly detailed addresses of where I wan to go to, but mostly the 'find' function doesn't locate anything. I have extended the search radius to 2000km (so that's far more than I need) but still more often than not the programme can't find the city/town. I have downloaded OSM Generic routable (i.e. free map) for France, which should work (well, it shows in the programme). Any idea why this isn't working?

Which OSM map from which site? You'll probably find that particular map doesn't have that capability. Most OSM maps don't have the embedded data to enable full address searches.

I use the Garmin CN map for France which does allow full address search.

Ok, I think I have now sorted the 'how to find places'. The next one is ... I store the places in a list and then create a route from that list, which is something that despite the tutorial I struggle with. And then, going on, if i need several routes (i.e. I am doing 9 days riding) how do i create a new route per day which I can then individually transfer to my Garmin Zumo ...

Just create all the routes you need, then having done so send them all to your Zumo. Instructions for accessing them on your Zumo can be found here
