Problem transferring data to/from Garmin Cloud

As a challenge on my 70 birthday I hope to cycle from Lands End to John o’ Groats on a Kalkhoff Ebike. I plan to use a Garmin Montana 680 and Base Camp running on my iMac for the daily routes. I am finding quite a steep learning curve with Base Camp and have already managed to unintentionally delete data from both the computer and Montana!

I was hoping that the Garmin Cloud would offer some protection and I have been trying, without success, to use the cloud to transfer routes and other data. I have looked at other threads on this subject but without success.

I have enabled cloud on the second computer and used the transfer function to move data from the main computer. A dialogue box allows you to choose which data to transfer (I chose all items). The box confirms that the data has been sent but I can't find any evidence of it being received. I have also tried sending stuff to the cloud using the same function on my primary computer but although it confirms the data has been sent, it does not appear on the mycomputer/ my selection of the second computer.

I am reluctant to plan any routes until I have a copy of data on the second computer so any help would be much appreciated

Thanks. David

    This might help:

Notice where the cloud symbol appears in Basecamp, i.e., the top left under devices.

To get data into the cloud just select it with your mouse and drag and drop it onto the cloud picture. Then a little + sign appears until the data is uploaded. Once the + disappears then the data is in the cloud. It shoud appear in the cloud on your other computer when you start Basecamp and sign in.

p.s. I'm older than you so don't give up. Enjoy your trip!
