I am running BaseCamp v4.5.2 on an iMac using OS X El Capitan v10.11.2. Map is Topo U.S. 24K Southwest v3 tied to my Montana 610t unit. I created 14 waypoints on a hiking trail from Gothic, CO to Copper Lake. When I selected all 14 waypoints then right click and select, "Create route from waypoints" Basecamp adds starting and stopping points that are beyond the waypoints; e.g., one time it wants to start in Farmington, NM. I then delete the route and start over and it wants to start and stop in downtown Denver. How do I prevent Basecamp from adding additional points on my route, or how do I delete the parts of the route I do not want so that I can plot a route of only the 14 waypoints? Thank you in advance for your help!
I have the same computing environment as you and the same map. When I tried doing a few waypoints on one of the trails just to the east of Gothic it worked perfectly for me in several different activities, i.e., motorcycling, walking and hiking. So, I am thinking perhaps you have a corrupted cache and should try clearing that. If I could remember how to do that I'd tell you but I can't :( Do a search on these forums and you should find it.
EDIT-1 Tried to eaily find out how to do it by searching the forum and it turned out not to be easy! JaVaWa GTMK from here: http://www.javawa.nl/gmtk_en.html has an option under Extras to clear the tilecache on a selected map It might be worth a try and its free and all his tools are great. EndEDIT
Thanks for your reply and advice AugustFalcon! I could not get the cache to empty so I ended up calling Garmin support. After two reps were unable to resolve the problem (one of them emptied the cache) they suggested that I start with two waypoints that work then keep adding until I find the problem spot on the map. I stopped the route a smidge before the map error then started a part 2 route right after the map error. The reps could not figure out why the route worked on your system and not on mine. I reported the map error after the call using the Garmin channel for reporting such issues. I created routes for several other off-road and hiking trips after finishing the Copper Lake route and have not run into the problem again. Thanks again for your advice!
