I recently bought a Fenix 3. I want to create routes in Basecamp that I can upload to the Fenix for walking/hiking and possibly running. I've downloaded a European OSM that I'd like to use in Basecamp to create routes. My problem is that I cannot work out how to load the OSM map in Basecamp. I have a .gmap folder with the map in it in my documents folder however I cannot see any functionality in Basecamp to load it. I've looked at MapManager and MapInstaller but they seem to be designed for maps that have been installed already or for Installing to a device. I know the Fenix 3 is not designed to hold maps and don't want to upload the map to the device, I just want to use it to create routes in Basecamp.
Which OSM map is it? Some offer installers to allow you to install the map to your computer for Basecamp to use. If not you will need to place the map on a removable drive so BaseCamp can use it.
It comes with an installation batch file for windows but the instructions for mac assume you can use MapManager however I cannot start MapManager because I don't have a connected device that can display a map.
Double-click the .gmap file and see what happens. On my Macs, that launches MapManager, which is definitely not for installing on devices. It will place the maps where BaseCamp can see them.
On my machine it just opens the folder and shows the files within it. I suspect this is because MapManager has never fully opened as it asks for a connected device which I don't have. MapManager doesn't recognise the Fenix 3 even when it is connected. I guess this is because the Fenix 3 doesn't display maps.
If it was on a PC I would use the open with option but I don't think that exists on a Mac.

Result - double clicking did not work but I was able to open the file in MapManager. It's now visible in BaseCamp. Thanks for your help SCHINDER :)
