I have just recently purchased a GPSMAP 64S and i am unable to disconnect it from basecamp. The device always immediately reconnects to the MACbook and basecamp. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue ?
Many thanks for reply.
When i close basecamp down (double checked not running in background) i am still unable to disconnect my Garmin GPS 64 . I do not have this problem with my edge 200 which tells me it must be something within the Garmin 64 however i cannot find any settings that will stop it reconnecting.
The Garmin GPS 64 icon shows up on my desktop along with the icon for the maps which are contained in the Garmin on a small SD card. When i try and eject the Garmin icons from the desktop they keep reconnecting immediately. The only safe option i have at the moment is to shut down the Macbook which is not ideal. If i pull the lead out when the icons are on the desktop then i get the error which tells me to properly disconnect the Garmin device before removing. if i keep on just pulling out the lead then eventually i will get some corrupted data on the device.
The Montana has the same problem. Has been reported to Garmin a very long time ago, still waiting for a solution...
I've created a workaround: http://www.javawa.nl/cleaneject_en.html Read the description carefully, especially the part about a file named "unmountme.txt"
MacBook running El Capitan and garmin gpsmap64s plus loaded sd card keeps reconnecting after ejecting. So far tried CleanEject and putting empty text file named 'uncounted.txt' and neither seems to work. Other suggestions to try would be appreciated...
I too have this exact problem with a new GPSMap64s. How delightful to know this bug has been around since 2015. Very impressive, Garmin. You must really love your customers.
