Virb app not working on iPhone X

My iPhone X connect just fine to the WiFi of my Garmin Virb Elite HD, but when opening the Virb app, the app does not see the Virb Elite unit?
I am running latest Virb Elite firmware, and Virb app.
When connecting from my iPhone 6, everything works just fine.
What is the issue here?

Got the same thing on my iPhone 7, when I open the app (after connecting to the Virb Elite WiFi) it can't find the camera.

I know that Apple´s newer devices are not compatible with blutetooth 2.0, anymore. They just use state of the art chips and aren´t downwards compatible.
Maybe something similar with the WiFi-Chip?
Did you try to connect your Virb with your router at home and connect through you local network? This would confirm or deny my guess...

The phone connects directly to the WiFi of the ViRB Elite giving it direct access to the device (not via bluetooth, the device isn't equipped with that).
