Altitude & speed sync problems

I recorded some videos using image stabilization. The G-Metrix data seems to be out of sync, but if I sync the ending of the video and the logfile, the speed seems to be OK. The altitude however seems to be lagging behind. An example video is here:
https://youtu.be/fcOiRGuREnM
There are three launches: at the beginning, at roughly 0:55 and at 2:01.
You can see that the speed starts increasing when the pilot starts running, but elevation shows flat line for a second or two more.

I'm using VIRB Elite and the latest version of VIRB Edit.

    Error in GPX file

I troubleshooted this further. The problem is actually in the GPX files themselves. The altitude information is correctly synced, but GPS track is a bit ahead. I've attached a zipped sample file.

    The launch is at 6:00.
Speed starts increasing at 5:57 (too early)
Altitude starts decreasing at 6:00 (on time)

I've confirmed that this is not a VIRB EDIT bug by importing the video and track to DashWare and the same thing happens also in that, so the fault must be in the source material.

Thanks for reporting. I also received your email and I've forwarded it to the right place.

    Fix?

So.. any idea when this might be fixed? I have some some videos waiting to be published, but I'd like to get the overlays in order before that.

Is there any progress on this? At least there's no updated firmware available.
  • I've noticed a similar issue where the altitude is lagging quite considerably (tens of minutes). During a 2 hour flight the first half appeared to have the altitude work properly. I turned the Virb off and back on to record the second half. Here it appears to be close on the climb out but it wasn't until we'd almost landed that it started showing the descent from 5500ft. Even after landing it still dropped another 2000ft as we taxied to parking. I realise that without a barometric altimeter it won't be as accurate, but it shouldn't be lagging this much.

    Any progress?

So, three months later I installed the latest Virb Edit and the issue is still there. Is there any progress done even internally with this problem? If not, maybe just remove the altitude indicators entirely. There's not much point in having it when the data is wrong.

    altitude issue

i have the same issue where my altitude recording just completely stops and sticks at an altitude for the remainder of the clip while skydiving when i am DEFINITELY losing alot of it
