Virb Edit is GONE

Wow I wrote this on my phone and I sound like a 10 year old. My apologies.

I had Virb edit 2.6 loaded on my home PC (Windows 7 pro x64) and hadn't used it for a few months. I jump on last night and I needed an update. I download the update. and go to install it, I click yes and nothing.

I uninstall all versions of Garmin software AND dot net 4.3.something and 1.1. I try to install once again, it prompts for dot net and installs 4.3.something and then gets to the "this will install VIRB Edit , it may take a few minutes". I click yes, and the process stops and everything stops. On my task manager I can see the virb process cease... nothing.

I downloaded 10 different versions. None will load. NOW I have no virb edit at all on my machine. I ran a virus and malware scan. nothing. Turned off EVERY startup item and restarted. Nothing. ran Ccleaner and cleaned my registry. restarted. nothing.

Can anyone help? :) Thank you!

Luigi

Edit: Didn't want to sound like an idiot :)

    Luigi,

I'm sorry to hear the installer isn't working for you.

    Try the following:

#1 Make sure you uninstall VIRB Edit.
#2 Install the newest version. You can download it from http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591.

If that is still not working (which is likely) can you send us the log file from the installer? You can find it here: C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\WebUpdate. There should be a SetupLog.txt file in there.

You could also try this to fix the installer: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2003226/fix-corrupt-windows-installer.html.

Not only the new one does not work
the old one has to be removed to install the v3.1.0

    Now both is gone

Garmin can you guys do something right for once or leave a backup ?

How bout posting where to download the older version while you play with the new one and stop launching new updates till its fully tested

    Same issue here

I agree, I'm seeing exactly the same issue, install appears to be working ok, says it will take a few minutes to install then NOTHING. No software, no disk activity, no error/progress messages. At this rate I'll be returning the VIRB for a refund and buying a GoPro instead.

GARMIN - Sort this out, this must have been an issue since the launch of 3.1.0 It needs fixing ASAP

If the installer stops working for you, can you check if maybe the application got installed anyways?

You can test this by going to the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\VIRB Edit. Are there any files in there? If there are, is the a file named VirbEdit.exe? Does it run if you double-click it?

Can you make the old version available

What's the possibility of making the old stable version available?

The program did not install itself. I LOVE my Virb camera, but my computer wants nothing to do with the software.

Installed but fails on running in Windows

If the installer stops working for you, can you check if maybe the application got installed anyways?

You can test this by going to the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\VIRB Edit. Are there any files in there? If there are, is the a file named VirbEdit.exe? Does it run if you double-click it?

When I run it, it loads and shows all the clips, but then Windows says there's a problem and the it gives this error report and offers to find a solution on the web or close.

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: CLR20r3

It looks like there are some issues for sure in the new release. I am without any software to do my editing. Are there any alternatives? I did have someone with me that had the Go-Pro software and it works on my Virb MP4 files, but not his Go-Pro MP4's. I updated all my drivers recently and even my Bios. I think my install is getting further than most people in that I can get it to load and come up before it crashes. Help!

Just put the old version back on

Garmin clean it up or make the old version available
