v3.1.0 4Gb file limit still present

It would appear that the limit on importing files bigger than 4Gb still exists in version 3.1.0 despite seeing something in another thread to the contrary. At this point I would consider this a bug rather than a feature request as Virb edit can export files bigger than that without any issue.

Can we please get some clarification if this is intentional or indeed a bug in the current release.

The exporting limit has something to do with the video-engine that VIRB Edit uses for Win7.
The request for altering this runs for quite some month now, but doesn't seem high on the priority list.

The problem only seems to occur on Win7 systems.
On Win8 and Mac there seems to be no limit.

The limit I am referring to is on importing videos not export as stated in the original post. Currently I import the videos into Premiere, do my post work on them then export them as a single clip and if that is bigger than 4Gb, Virb Edit fails to import it. And yes this is on Windows 8.1 so nothing to do with the operating system.

So until this is fixed the only way to work is to export multiple shorter clips from Premiere before importing them into Virb Edit and then manually align the GPS track for each clip which is quite time consuming for long videos.
  • I noticed the same, indeed it's boring and much more effort for syncing the GPX and video.
I even did not receive any error message, it was just some try-and-error.

    Hope it getting fixed soon.
