Canot see Imported Videos in Virb Edit

Hi I have a problem that has recently reared it's head with Virb Edit

After doing a ride with the Virb Elite I tried to import the videos as usual using virb edit.

When starting Virb Edit it tells me that the Virb is connected but the 'import all' and 'import selection' options are greyed out. 'Import other' is selectable so I did that and pointed it to my cameras drive and go to the DCIM/100_Virb folder where I can see the mp4 that was created on the ride.

After selecting the file I choose open and 'import only'. Virb Edit then tells me the Library has updated 1/1. Fine I think but after selecting ok I get taken to the Gallery but nothing is showing in the media library. I check the folder where the settings points to but it is empty.

So I try again only this time I choose 'copy clips' and not 'import only'. Virb Edit then takes a moment and sure enough it once again says 'Library updated 1/1' but once again nothing is showing in the media library when it takes me to the gallery screen. Only this time I check the folder the settings points to and the mp4 file is there but it is still not showing in the Gallery screen.

I take it a step further and click on 'create video'. I choose a name for the video and ok it. It takes me to the video library but it is empty and not showing my mp4 from above.

I'm stumped. I've tried reinstalling virb edit, replaced the SD card in the elite, changed the settings to point to a different location but virb edit still cannot see any files.

Its been about 6 months since I last played with Virb Elite and everything worked fine. I am running everything on the latest editions, Virb Elite is software version 4.00 Serial number 3AP082569. Virb Edit is 3.1.0.2

One thing Ive noticed is that Garmin Express does not automatically show when I connect the Virb Elite tho my Edge 510 does but I can't remember if Express used to display when I plugged it in before.

I run Windows 7. The MP4 file works fine in windows media btw.

Any help would be greatly received as without Virb Edit the elite becomes a bog standard video camera without the use of the gps etc overlays

Can't Import Clip using VIRB Edit - options greyed out

HI, I have the same issue - the option to import all and import Selection are greyed out.

I have multiple VIRB XE's, 4 in total. We have just done a multiple camera event and looking to generate a synchronized multi camera video.

    All cameras have been re-named XXX_01, XXX_02, XXX_03, XXX_04.

The camera appears in the Edit Software and the software states the unit is connected but the options to Import are greyed out.

This is somewhat frustrating given the investment we have made in 4 new cameras. Any help, much appriciated.

    Thanks

I am having the same issue (Virb Edit does not recognize that there are videos/data ready to import), but I think I know how I caused it. I have two VIRBs, and when I turned off (hibernated) the laptop, one was physically connected via USB. When I turned on the laptop the next day, the *other* VIRB was connected. VIRB edit was definitely confused about that and kept telling me there was an update available for the VIRB (I had already updated the second VIRB but not the first).

So now, VIRB Edit does not recognize that the new videos/data need to be imported.

Any way that I can reset a flag or delete a file to get the newer videos/data to import?

    Thanks!

ps- I was really happy with the first autocrossing video I was able to make with VIRB Edit, I think you'll like it!

    Same problem for me also...

    Hi,

I'm a new Virb Edit user and I'm having the same issues as others on this thread. Virb Edit refuses to see any new clips on my Virb Elite and if I try to manually import them, it fails every time. No error message given. I've been looking through some Virb Edit logs and this is the only clue I can find:-

"16:06:38 Warning Duration between stream and formatContext metadata do not match. Using shortest duration, some content may be lost"

The logs show a few of these messages everytime I try to manually import a clip, but that's it...

Has anyone at Garmin got an idea as to what's happening here or has anyone managed to get this solved?..

Out of curiosity, I installed Virb Edit on my work machine and connected my Virb Elite to it. It worked perfectly, so it's not the clip or the Virb Elite.

My home machine is Windows 10, but my work machine is Windows 7.

Any help on this would be gratefully received. It's getting to be really frustrating now.

Cannot Import clips into VIRB Edit - Fixed it...

Hi to anyone still having the issue where VIRB Edit refuses to acknowledge new clips or indeed import anything manually...

I was pulling my hear out on this one. Garmen Tech Support didn't bother replying to my e-mail requesting help and from this forum I could see that nobody was getting anywhere with it. This made me look for an alternative to VIRB Edit so I installed Dashware. The problem is that this didn't work on my system either. However, it had better logging than VIRB Edit and lead me to look at fips enablement on my machine. Sure enough fips was enabled, but the only way I could see of turning it off was by editing the registry (Windows 10 Home). If you're lucky enough to have Windows 10 Pro, this can be turned off through Control Panel.

Anyway, I turned fips off within the registry and DashWare started working so I thought I'd see if VIRB Edit would also now work. To my surprise it did, despite the apparent issues between the two pieces of software being completely different. DashWare would not run at all until I turned fips off.

The only problem I now have is that everytime I reboot my machine, something is re-enabling fips... I'm not sure what it is, but my current solution is to have created a .bat file for VIRB edit with this content:-

    reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FipsAlgorithmPolicy /f /v Enabled /t REG_DWORD /d 0
    cd c:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\VIRB Edit\
    VirbEdit.exe

I've placed it in the same folder as VIRB Edit and put a shortcut to the .bat on my desktop. I've also set this to run as administrator, otherwise it won't be able to edit the registry key.

An alternative would be to place a .bat with just the registry edit in my startup folder.

So far I haven't seen any problems with any other software. Please be aware that the above registry key is for Windows 10 Home edition. I cannot vouch for it being identical on your system. If you want to try it then you will need to verify the exact key location on your system. Run regedit and search for FipsAlgorithmPolicy.

Also, I am not a coder. Just a frustrated user with some tech savvy. If you try to use this solution it's at your own risk as it was mine:-)

    Good luck.

    Same Here...

I am not having this same problem with my Virb X. It seems to be on longer videos rather than shorter ones - if this makes any difference to anyone who may have some answers. If anyone has managed to find a solution, let me know!!;)

Ps. The above does not work for me. My command prompt says access denied for the reg add
