Virb Edit 3.1.0 reboots laptop when opening imported images from Virb Elite

with version 3.1.0 I am still getting problems opening imported images from the Virb Elite, the pictures import apparently ok, they are copied to the configured folder
c:\users\XXX\Piictures\Virb with the prefix I typed
I can open them with preview in file explorer or in some other third party image viewer
The Images appear with a thumbnail on the Media Library, but once I do a right click / View, the computer simply reboots!
I am running Windows 8.1 on a Dell Inspiron 7537 Intel Core i7-4500U 1.80GHz 8Gb RAM, Intel HD Graphics
my driver shows version 10.18.14.4222
which is the last one shown in intel driver update utility
seems newer than the one in dell site:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/...driverId=WX14C
what can be advised regarding this reboot? should I roll back to the drivers on dell website? look on some log for the origin of the problem?

also when I open virb edit each time I get 2 errors
could not read 35 clips some clips may be missing
could not read 31 clips some clips may be missing
I think this error refers to the previous images I tried to import and then deleted from the media library to add them manually again
how or where can I get information on the clips that are not read, so that I can remove the references to this files and not get the error messages each time I open the program?

We already do save after every pretty much every edit. But apparently it's not working as intended. We'll take a look.

And thank you for all the pointers. I'll investigate what's going on with that EXIF data.

    Hello FALAGAR,

are there any conclusions? Can I help you out with more information?
I´m looking forward to use (stock) pictures from my XE. That would be great :)

Virb Edit Causes Reboot on Surface Pro 3

I experienced the issue where dragging a photo into the editing timeline causes an immediate reboot of the machine. It is a Surface Pro 3 with Intel Core i5-4300 CPU @ 1.9 GHz. The video is imported from my Garmin Virb Elite (which Garmin Express tells me needs an update but syncing isn't successful). I am using Virb Edit v 3.1.0.2 (6/25/2015) on a Window 8.1 OS. Let me know if I can provide any additional information to help troubleshoot.
  • I´m out!

After upgrading to Windows 10, the reboot problem disappeared :D

Greetings all! I am looking into why some of your machines have been rebooting. I find it interesting that Windows 10 makes the problem go away. From other descriptions however, it seems like it is the EXIF data. Is anyone willing to attach a photo here that might be causing your issue? That would help us quite a bit.

    Thanks!

Off course! Nothing more easy then that :)
I hope the file is not changed in any way.

    |Edit] Not that easy as suggested. The Exif-Data were gone. So I Zipped it and uploaded it here on File-Upload.

I am curious to know.... these images came from a VIRB Elite and had no G-Metrix associated with them is that correct? And thanks for the post. Looks like you have more fun then I do :)

Edit: I know it will show position from the Exif data as G-Metrix but I mean to say that there was no other data is that right?

I tried this image.... I'm having trouble still reproducing. I am not sure what is going on here. I will keep digging. If anyone else has any images they would like to share so that we can continue to test this it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all!

I would also like to know if those that are having issues.... do you all have the latest drivers for your video card? I find it strange that an upgrade to Windows 10 fixed this for one user. That tells me that there might be a driver problem. For those that are having issues, would you be willing to share with me what video card you have and what driver?

Did you took the zipped file from after my edit? It´s from a Virb XE.
I didn´t know if there were any related G-Metrix data files according to pictures. I thought, they were just in the exif-part.
Let me take a look tomorrow, if I can find any related G-Metrix files.

You can find my computer and driver setup here on the first page.
