Feature Request: Mini map overlay

Greetings, as agreed I'm opening a thread for the feature request for a mini map gauge.

It's great to have the view of the track for when you do laps and such, however if you are cycling or flying or sailing, it's much more interesting to see where you are, when there was not a specific "track/lap". The map view in the virb edit is great but it'd be even better if some gauges could be embedded in the video overlay with the map itself.

Here's an ilustration:

Thank you in advance, all comments are appreciated!

I know there are/were some legal issues about exporting a map (or equivalent).
Garmin has a licence for using it on their GPSses and for Basecamp/Mapsource, they don't own the map they use.
Different suggestions were made in the past like using OpenStreetMaps.

No idear what the status is at this moment.

When I wanted a map I captured the previewscreen of 2.9.2.
The new version has no map in the preview so capturing the video (including the map) while playing the preview is no option anymore.
The option that still exist is capturing the separate map while playing the video.
The captured map and the video can be combined in another video editor.

I totally agree! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GARMIN! :D I do a lot of dashcam vids and would love a street map overlay to show the cross streets!

I did notice in the new Virb Edit 3.0.1.0, when you are in the video edit mode, if you are zoomed in on the map pane and play the video, the map will automatically recenter if the dot goes out side the frame. So it sill would be an option to do your own video screencapture and splice it back into the original video, but that's a lot of hassle.
