"Flip 180" Causes Complete Hard Reset

I have a number of videos taken with the Virb upside down, but if I try to rotate them 180 degrees in Virb Edit, the entire computer crashes and restarts as if the plug were suddenly pulled. This makes it impossible to edit anything.

Any advice? I'm using Windows 8.1 and Virb Edit 3.0.1

Are you absolutely certain that rotating is what caused this behavior?

I'd give updating the GFX card drivers a shot if this is indeed repeatable.

I thought that was the case when importing my flipped images, but I am getting such a reboot when importing images without flipping the orientation:

Definitely every time I click rotate.

I just updated the GFX driver and no change.

I've now used YouTube to rotate the video properly, and have downloaded it. Unfortunately, now I seem unable to transfer the new video into VE. A little frustrating.

Yup. Downloaded the NVIDIA Optimus Display Driver for Windows 8.1 for my Lenovo W530 straight from Lenovo.

Interestingly, I noticed that the video does indeed rotate 180 degrees a split second before the whole computer shuts down. I've never had anything like this happen on this computer before.

I'm afraid I am slowly running out of options.

Do you see anything in the Windows Event Logs before it crashes? (Hit Windows key, type 'event logs' and then click on 'View event logs' and see if Windows wrote out anything right before the crash that could help us narrow down what's failing.)

There is also this one though: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds032185. It's from 5/20/2014.

Did you install the 2014 one?

It's one day newer than the one you linked to, and says it's for Windows 8.1 rather than 8. I may try the one you linked to, though.

I installed the other driver, just to see what would happen. Same complete crash when trying to rotate.
