Jerky video playback

How to fix the jerky playback

I have an issue with the video playback in virb edit, it's extremely jerky, almost like its playing frames seconds apart.
I have turned off the GPS, I don't need it.
If I pause the video for a few mins it runs smoother for a few seconds when I start it again, so it seems to be something to do with the software processing it's own file.

I use mine to pay back equestrian videos and with this issue its next to useless to be honest.
I'm trying to watch my ride from this morning and I can't tell if my horse is walking or cantering, so not helping me see how even his cadence is

Anyone found a fix? (Only had thus 3 weeks or so, it's the latest software)

I just purchased a Virb Elite and have the same problem. After a few hours reading posts like this and multiple trips to Best Buy I got my Virb Elite to playback smoothly.

I think the problem is related to the density of HD video and the read/write speed of the micro SD card.

1) Before I knew I had this problem I bought a "class 10" micro SD card, per the instructions included with the Virb. The speed of this card was 45 MB/s. Experienced "jerky" video playback.

2) Did more research and realized that the device may require a higher spec micro SD card than what Garmin is telling us... So I exchanged the micro SD for a 90 MB/s card. I still experienced the same problem.

3) Changed my video resolution to "economy HD" (power/mode button to "video", then select "Economy HD"). The combination of "economy HD" and the faster card seems to have fixed the issue.

NOTE TO GARMIN if you are listening: UPDATE your manuals to specify the correct SD card specification in the short term. In the medium term get this problem fixed so I can take advantage of all of the video resolutions. The product has a lot of potential, but this is completely unacceptable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know an awful lot of people with GoPro units and I have never heard of them having this issue.

Jerky video playback in Virb edit 3.2

The video is so jerky inside virb edit to such extend that it is useless to edit anything.

I am running the latest updates as per the minimum requirements sheet. I tested the program on 3 different machines ranging from a core i3 to core i7 with graphics cards exceeding the minimum spec 2 fold. All these PC's had 8gb ram. Latest version of .net and directX.

It seems that virb edit is trying to render the playback in full HD. Please give us the option in the edit window of virb edit to lower the resolution to 720p or smaller to smooth the playback out.

My other editing software like Adobe Premier Pro is running at high quality without any kind of jerkiness.

Please fix this in the next version of virb edit please!
