Can you make a video over 4GB?

I keep getting a pop up in Virb Edit stating that it would be best to keep the video in the 4GB area.
The video I have is like 11GB to make.

Is it better to have it 4GB or what?

Thanks

I suggest you perform a search for '4Gb video file limit' (or something like that) for more information. It's been discussed MANY times.

If the file system is FAT32, the file size is limited to 4GB. If you have a 11 GB file to make, then break it up and then use a video editor program to join them. That is the best solution.

    hope it helps...

Unfortunately, some of VirbEdit's underlying technology is not able to write files larger than 4GB on Windows 7, and your export will fail if you attempt to do so, hence the warning. This limitation was removed on Windows 8. If you need a file bigger than that, RSCHIMEK's suggestion is probably best.

The track (and other graphs) will only show the part that's in the video.
If you want to have the whole span of parts to be displayed in your gauges, have a look at this post https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?75263-How-To&p=382929#post382929

Currently this is the workaround I'm using too. However, it's really inconvenient because it requires repeated user intervention and waiting, especially in the case of longer (>1-2 hrs) videos. Thus I'm wondering how difficult it would be to make Virb Edit such that upon export it automatically breaks up large videos into smaller files (3.5 GB or whatever smaller sizes the user desires). I think this shouldn't be a big deal - Garmin Virb devices do this by default already. Win7 is gonna stick around awhile and besides, regardless of the OS, one can have various reasons to break large movies into smaller pieces while maintaining the complete overlay graphs intact.

    Hello..
    I don't understand...

I used to get de pop-up (video greater than 4 GB) in the last version (2.9) but it managed to create it.
Actually, the final video file used to be smaller than 4 GB.

Now, with the 3.0 version I get the pop-up and it does nothing..!

So, what is it going on?
I bought a camera able to make videos of hours.. and now I can't make videos longer than 10 minutes..?
    Is it a joke??

    Regards.

I apologize for the trouble. Can I get a little more information?

Are you saying you get the popup, choose to proceed and it doesn't attempt to export?

Or does it attempt to export and it fails?

    Hello...
I get the pop-up, I click OK, and nothing happens.
    (I am using Windows 7).

I have just tried in a laptop with Windows 8 and everything worked fine (I didn't even get the pop-up...).

I also did another test in Windows 7: I exported a video 12 min long and the pop-up told me that the size would be 3.60 GB while the final file was just 430 MB.
Is there something wrong in the calculation..?

    Thanks.
    Regards.

I apologize for the trouble. It looks like continuing to export after the 4GB warning is indeed broken in 3.0. We'll have this fixed in 3.1.

Windows 8 doesn't have the 4GB limitation, that's why you didn't get the message there.

We'll also revisit the export estimates, hopefully we can make them a bit more realistic.
