Trackline gauge width / height ratio too wide

While working on an idea on another post: "Map in output (export) of VIRB?"
I noticed that the trackline gauge seems not to have the correct width to height ratio, it seems to be too wide.

In the advanced gauge editor the height and width are set to be a square which I expect it to be, but in the display compared to the map on the right in the virb edit screen it seems to be streched.

If you want to use a map as a backgound as in the other thread one needs to stretch the map which does not reflect reality!
  • Hi, where is the "Advanced gauge editor" in VirbEdit?

"advanced gauge editor" Open virbedit go into edit mode and select overlays.
Right mouse click on one of the meters (gauges) and select change meter (beta) -> this wil open a new window with in the titel *.VEG you are currently editing.
In the file menu there is the option for advanced editing this will open the *.VEG file in a text editor, I use Scite but you might as well use notepad.
Sometimes it is easier to align items in a text file exact numbers, compared to drag and drop, I use this for *.VEG files (individual meters/gauges) and also for *.vet files (templates)

My windows language is set to Dutch so I hope I made the correct translations of the menu items.
  • Thanks - I was looking through all the menu's, tried left and right clicking on the gauges in the video and couldn't find it anywhere, never thought to click on the gauge in the list!

I did ratio comparisons with multiple datasets I have.
Consistently the trackine width seems to be streched by a factor of about 1.6 compared to the trackline on the map in the virbedit window.

for an example see this image.

I tried multiple gauges of the trackline but this does not seem to help, editing the trackline.veg file does not help either.

Can this bug please be solved, it would make export with map a lot easier.

Hi ErivdBer and thanks for your tips of adding a map to a video.

Anyhow, i have faced big issues when trying to add map in a gauge editor. Should i see a trackline top of map image? This would dramatically help to find correct size for a map image. Also what is the min/mac slide at the bottom and what it does? thank you!

Trackline gauge width / height ratio now OK in 3.5

Thanks to the developers the issue with height to width ratio seems to be resolved.
It is now easier to match custom map overlay with trackline.

Yeah, we fixed that a little while ago. Glad you put it to good use! Looks pretty sweet.
