Exporting VIRB movie with map?

Hi all,
First post on the VIRB-part of the forum. Just got my VIRB Elite today and did a test movie so I could try out VIRB Edit. Seems like a nice little package! I have been using Countour cameras for a while, first the GPS and lately the Countour+2 also with the GPS feature. I love the ability to display where the movie has been shot at the same time as presenting the video, which is the main driver for getting the VIRB Elite.

Now, everything goes well with importing the video, making a video, displaying the map on the side, adding gauges etc. But when I export the movie I do not get the map exported with the movie I shot. Admittedly I have only exported to my own computer not to any of the online service yet. And I start to get the feeling of that this is all I can expect? On the pictures on Garmin website I have looked at the screens of VIRB Edit and saw the map and took it for granted that this could be exported with the movie. Please tell me I'm wrong... If so I have to find a screen video capture tool that can capture how it looks on my computer

Best regards
Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

Unfortunately VIRB Edit does not support Exporting with the Map, thanks for the feedback. See this thread.

We did look into this, and would love to do it, but ran into some technical difficulties that thwarted us for the time-being.

It's still on the list, but we haven't scheduled this feature for a particular release at the moment.
  • Thank's for the quick and clarifying response! Although I became a bit disappointed by the answer ;-)

I'll post a comment in the other thread instead and continue the discussion there.

I need that other PCs in my company (with VIB Edit) can run same videos with MAP. And I need to create a database in our server with all videos with GPS data that can be displayed in any PC with VIRB Edit installed (to see video and MAP together).

If I can not do that, I think GPS in Garmin VIRB Elite is useless for our company, since we can not see videos and MAPs if needed in a near future.

Does anybody knows a solution that provides these needs?

    Hi,

I found a workaround to export movie with maps, needs some effort to match the map dimensions with the trackline but it works.
    See this thread here.

And another example here. With some more details how to do it.
