New VIRB Basic (Xmas present)
latest firmware 3.90
VIRB edit latest 2.8.0
Window 7 (64 bit) all up to date. 500gb free disk space 8mb RAM.

trying to add simple time and date sensors, but drag and drop shows the plus but no sensor appears.
Tried before export and then exported to see if the gauges magically appeared ... but no.
Yes, I can add date time to stills, so why not video?

Suggestions or advice appreciated. I don't wAnt to buy a gps unit just to add date/time
Or not possible with non-Elite basic VIRB?

VIRB Edit takes the time/date for the clips from the GPX/FIT file.
To get such a file you need a GPS.
Another option is to fake it by making or altering a GPX file. (lot of work)
I don't know if there are programs that can help you with this.

Yes. That's my understanding, too. I will try to link to GPX from my phone.

But the Virb Basic camera has an internal clock, and should be able to add this to unedited video files, as it does for stills.

After all, even cheap cams have this (SJCAM). The function is important if footage is to be used as in disputes. I have it mostly for my bike, and that is a possibility, should there be an accident.
Otherwise, it's really more of an accessory for a Garmin GPS, and not as useful as a cheap cam for recording evidence.
