I noticed on one of the first videos that I built that the GPS info that's displayed didn't quite match what the picture showed. Leaving stops I observed that the displayed Speed was moving up from zero but the picture did not yet show my vehicle moving. In other words, the GPS was Ahead of the video. Using the stopwatch feature of my phone I found the difference to be 12.22 seconds.
Next I attempted to use the Sync feature in Virb Edit. (I'm using Version 2.8.0.0) I gave it four tries at different locations on the map and not a one of them seemed to work. The Video and GPS streams remained out of sync, most easily seen when leaving each stop.
I wonder if Garmin could add a window to the Sync process that would offer the user an option to fill in two fields instead of doing the Map And Picture exercise. The Fields:
1. How many seconds apart are the two streams?
2. Which one gets going first (GPS/Video)?
The answers for my example would be [12.22] and [GPS].
Would those two items allow the program(mer) to sync the streams directly,
- bypassing the Map And Picture routines, and
- allowing me to skip the Map And Picture steps?
That sure sounds good from here. :+)

Is this a new idea?
If it is new, does Garmin hover over this forum or would I need to find out how to Suggest it to Garmin?
