  • Unfortunately version 2.8 messed up something with replacing gps track. With the previous one I had no problem with replacing the gpx with 1 from edge 810. It was sometimes necesary due to missing data not recorded by 2 Virbs I own and it was working like a chrm in 2.7 version. Now the app crashes everytime I want to replace the gps track from the edge.

I would like to go back to 2.7. Can You tell me how to get the installer?
    Cheers
    Lukasz

    Sorry about the trouble.

You can find old installers here: http://gawisp.com/perry/virb/.

Would you mind attaching a screen-shot of the error dialog for the crash? Does it happen with every file you try to add?
  • Hi Falagar,

Virb Edit 2.8 seems to work well and it looks better than the "already not bad" 2.7.

For the next release should be possible avoid that controls go behind taskbar (in Windows 8.1) like the attached image?
This defect was present in all versions of virbedit, and happen both in normal and fullscreen mode (in normal mode UI isn't resizable...)
    My Display resolution is 1920x1080.

Another simple but useful thing: add music start time and duration, like Text Overlay.

    Thanks for your work!
    Andrea

    Thank you for your feedback!

    Music improvements are definitely planned.

I am running Windows 8.1 at 1900x1200 and I don't see what you are seeing. Do you show the taskbar at all times or do you auto-hide it? I can't seem to make it happen either way though. :(

    Hello.
    Thanks for the answer.
I have a movie to create from several clips, quite many to be honest - almost 6 hours of recording :) 85 km trip and try to replace the track of evry single clip. It worked fine with 2.7 version. I've been doing that due to missing or incorrect gps tracks recorded by Virbs, or differences between data of each camera - esspecially elevation +/- 20m. If replacement Has been done before editing whole movie everything was fine, but now the app crashes.
Here You go - it's in Polish saying something like "the error occured while connecting gps track with clip" but its something new, not present yesterday - today I tried to reinstall the app.
  • hey Falagar, is there any news on if/when VIRB Edit will support a video recorded from the VIRB *without* GPS enabled? We use our cameras indoors and there's no good GPS signal, as you can imagine, but we can get speed from an ANT+ speed sender (or a powertap wheel, which does the same thing) - is it planned to support this use case?

    Thank you,

    Carl

This should work already, if not why not just record the data on another device eg Edge 810 and subsitute the .fit file in Virb Edit.

"Should work"? either it's supported, in which case it would be in the release notes, or it isn't, and thus, doesn't work.
I will give it a try tonight, with both new VIRB firmware and Edit 2.8.0, but :

Last time I tried it VIRB Edit refused to work with the file, and the whole reason we got a VIRB is to quickly (a couple of minutes) process video of training efforts, not faf around with other bits of kit to achieve something that the VIRB and VIRB Edit should "just be able to do"!

The Shimano CM-1000 can, it just doesn't have a neat editing suite yet, so it's back to the multi-stage process of using Dashware which is too slow a process for us to be able to use during a busy training session.

I'm sorry if my answer doesn't come up to your exacting standards, I was just trying to help!
From my experience in the absence of a GPS signal my Virb Elite will show a speed derived from my GSC10 Speed/Cadence sensor.
I'm not sure if this speed is recorded to the .fit file because I've never bothered to check (but I see no reason why it shouldn't be).
  • lots of improvements

I finally got some time to test the 2.8.0 software.
I am very happy with the improvements, several issues I had with previous versions seem to be solved, strange jumps of gauges with multiple clips, and behaviour of graphs is now corresponding to actual numbers!

I also like the incorporation of the gauge edit functions into virbedit. I tried something with color gradient in the gauges see:

    thanks for the update.:)
  • I am happy you hear you like the version. Looks like that video is private though, so I can't watch it.

The crash is an out of memory exception. That means at some point we don't have enough memory to work with and fail.

I wonder if the GPX you are adding is just too large, or if there are too many clips/tracks in your database.

    A few more questions:

    1. How much memory is VIRB Edit using for you? Ctrl-Shift-Escape to bring up the task manager, find VIRB Edit and let me know how much memory it is using when you are editing your movie containing many clips.
    2. How big is the gpx file you are trying to add? Does adding a smaller one work?
    3. How many clips do you have in your library?
    4. Could you maybe zip up your database and share it with me on Dropbox or something similar? C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit
    5. Does starting over help at all? If that is an option: back up C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit, delete it and re-launch VIRB Edit.

I'd like to figure out what is causing us to run out of memory. Ideally I can reproduce it here, so we can be sure to apply the right fix.

I apologize for the trouble. Any assistance you can provide would be much appreciated.

P.S. Nawet zrozumialem co bylo napisane w tym dialogu. Troche mowie po polsku.
