Guys. Please can someone offer some advice here. I used to run virb edit just fine but after updating to 2.8.0 the program crashes whenever I try to preview a video. I have tried disabling the antivirus. I have also tried reverting back to version 2.7.1 and 2.7.0 but I can't get it back to working condition. Has anyone had a similar issue? I am running windows 7. Pulling my hair out over here.

    Thank you

    Dear,
I just bought the Garmin Virb Elite . I downloaded Virb Edit 2.8.0. I have lot of problems with this program. It crashes.
I'm a Professional tested and based on my experience I logged hereby my findings.
    I'm using a HP Probook 6550b, Windows 7.
In attachment you'll find the evidences of my errors
    - I can’t preview my MP4 : Virb edit doesn’t play my video. The time bar is still 0:00/0:00. The screen is black
    - Garmin virb : when I want to create a video I don’t have the space to drop the video’s
    - I create a new video. At the moment I double click on create video, “ Virb Edit” crashes. I receive a pop up : “ Edit has stopped working”. I push on selection “Closed program”

    Hello.

I have just upgraded to Virb Edit to 2.8 with the intention to edit a few clips and I have the same issues as Olivier.
    My setup is:
    - Windows 7
    - Sony Vaio laptop
    - No MS Defender installed but I have MS Security Essentials running (didn't have any problem with it in previous versions).

From "Control Panel" -> Activity Center -> Issues to inform ==> I have found some records associated to Virb Edit and "Overlay.dll" module (details below in spanish).

I had in a custom Logo, I have reapplied this customization but VirbEdit still crashes when tyring to Edit a video.
    Thank you,
    Jose Luis

    Hi,

I'm a garmin fan but I'm facing with software issues.
I have the vivosmart but no luck : it has bleutooth connection problems with Garmin connect (I have an Android)
I just bought a Virb but no luck again : Virb edit is always crashing.

I posted a tread on 31/12 but again bad luck : no reply by development team. It's complete silence

I'm disappointed. I hope there will be a reply by Garmin

This is a user forum, there are times when Garmin staff reply but I wouldn't rely on it.

    I apologize for the trouble.

Did you read the FAQ for playback issues? https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?159788-FAQ-Playback-and-Export-Issues

It sounds like a driver issue.

    Hi Falagar,

Vivosmart connectivity with Connect seems to work fine with V2.90

VIRB edit is still now working.
My laptop has the necessary requirments. I updated the software of ATI High Definition Audio Device and also IDT High Definition Audio CODEC.
    It still now working.
What do you suggest now ?

That doesn't sound like you updated the drivers for the graphics card. I am also not sure if that laptop's graphics card meets the minimum requirements. That's a pretty old laptop with a low-end graphics card.

That's what I found: "The AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 540v is a laptop graphics card based on the old Mobility Radeon HD 4500 series." (http://laptops-specs.blogspot.com/2010/06/hp-probook-6550b-specifications.html & http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-540v.36461.0.html) We require at least a AMD Radeon 6570.

I am afraid you might not have much luck trying to use VIRB Edit on that hardware.
  • Looking fwd to record the Vector Power metrics like avg power balance and the new power metrics, is it in the "to do list"?
