  • Titles Not Working

Version 2.80 is excellent. Thank you for the team's work in doing this. The software is extremely helpful, very usable and a lot of fun! Of course there are always some bugs and requests to be made so here are three:

TITLE BUG: When creating a title, the text on the video disappears after the specified time as it should. But a border around the text remains! Strange that there is a border in the first place. Better if there is an option for background colour and 50% transparency behind the text, just like you have in the gauges.

IMPORT MP4 DATE: When importing videos that have been cropped/joined and saved using AVIDEMUX (a popular open source video editor), the date on the videos appear as 1904 JANUARY! I am not sure where this date is retrieved from. Would it not make more sense to use the current date or the created date of the video file?

ZERO SPEED: When cycling and stopping at a traffic light in my cycling data, the speed will hover around 6kph or so. I'm aware that this is due to the inherent errors in the GPS signal, but it's strange that my Garmin Edge 810 does not exhibit this behaviour and the GPS data is retrieved from that device. Perhaps the Edge is doing some calculations to make it more accurate whereas the Virb Edit software does not do this?
  • Is the Edge getting it's speed data from a Speed sensor eg GSC10?

    Thank you for your feedback!

Title Bug: I am having trouble reproducing this. What OS are you on? The selection box basically stays when the title has disappeared? We will hopefully go back to the regular selection indicator in 2.9, we just had some performance issues, so we went with the box for 2.8.

Import date: That's something we should be able to fix. Falling back to the current date and time when we cannot read the meta-data sounds like a good solution.

Zero Speed: I'm curious, are you getting a gpx or .fit file from the Edge? Could you share an example video and file? There might be something we can do. But yes, I suspect that the Edge has better speed info, and just doesn't write it out for VIRB Edit to
    pick up.

Thanks again for your feedback. It is much appreciated.
  • Hi Falagar,

I'm an Italian Virb Elite Tester and after the new update, rendering a video seems to work fine without crashes.
Unfortunately, data/video alignment bug still remains...in my case gps info printed on the screen are 2/3 seconds ahed the video: a lot of time! By watching gauges you can predict the video action... not good in particoluar if I recorded a go-kart race with a lot of curves: I want to see speed and G force in real-time..

I think that a simple input "delay" / "put before" button with milliseconds control, could be a good way to solve this problem
  • Thanks for your feedback. I am glad to hear rendering a video works for you.

In order to help you with the alignment issues, make sure you have the most current firmware on the device, and that the videos were recorded with the newest firmware.

If you still have mis-alignments, I'd love to get a hold of an example video, .gpx and .fit file. Dropbox works well for sharing such files. Plus I wouldn't mind having some cool Go-Kart footage. :)

    Thanks again.
  • ok!
give me an email address, I'll send you dropbox invitation to share folder

    in the folder:
    -gpx
    -originale mp4 file
    -rendered file
  • I got the PM. Let me know when it's done uploading.

    Thanks!
  • Unfortunately version 2.8 messed up something with replacing gps track. With the previous one I had no problem with replacing the gpx with 1 from edge 810. It was sometimes necesary due to missing data not recorded by 2 Virbs I own and it was working like a chrm in 2.7 version. Now the app crashes everytime I want to replace the gps track from the edge.

I would like to go back to 2.7. Can You tell me how to get the installer?
    Cheers
    Lukasz
  • Hi Falagar,

Virb Edit 2.8 seems to work well and it looks better than the "already not bad" 2.7.

For the next release should be possible avoid that controls go behind taskbar (in Windows 8.1) like the attached image?
This defect was present in all versions of virbedit, and happen both in normal and fullscreen mode (in normal mode UI isn't resizable...)
    My Display resolution is 1920x1080.

Another simple but useful thing: add music start time and duration, like Text Overlay.

    Thanks for your work!
    Andrea
