  • Hi Falagar

    Thanks for the new Version.
Unfortunately, the software crashes when exporting a video :-(

What Kind of Infomation do you need to analyze that Problem?
How can I backup my imported data to make a complete reinstall of your software?
How can I remove your software complete (manualy)?

    Worth to try the following:

If you have an antivirus program OTHER than Windows Defender :
    (i) if it has antivirus control settings : add Virb Edit to the exclusion list
(ii) if it does not have AVC settings - like Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition, only a complete UNINSTALL will fix it. Disabling scan or exiting it is NOT enough for the Free Edition.

In my case, it was Bitdefender that was crashing the software.

As an aside, before I uninstalled Bitdefender I tried everything : including uninstalling VE, removing all associated files, removed it from registry and putting a fresh install of various versions from 2.5 to 2.6.1 Beta to 2.6.2 to 2.7.1.0. Failed everytime - unless it is an exceedingly short clip - where it may export successfully. It seems like Bitdefender notices the CPU draw (100% load) and assumes after a period of time that something funny is happening and stops the software. So rather than try this tedious method, have a look at your antivirus first.

I am now on 2.8.0 and it works beautifully and as advertised.

    Hi Busternuck

Thanks for your answer. I habe installed the newest Bitdefender (total securit 2015). so i will check the settings for Bitdefender today evening.
  • We will try to do something in 2.9 to detect Bitdefender and warn our users that export might be affected.

    We apologize for the trouble.
  • Hi Falagar

I have never had success with Virb edit, there was always either one issue or another with it and after wasted hours I would complete my project using Dashware. So it was with trepidation that I downloaded and installed version 2.8.0. My latest MTB ride had 4 clips. I added them to the timeline, dragged a few gauges onto it and noticed straight away that while previewing the movie that it didn't stutter and the GPS tracks aligned perfectly. I then trimmed the start and end point and the GPS data corrected itself instantly.
I then clicked export and was informed that the estimated file size was 24.2GB. I clicked export and exactly three hours later I was greeted with the export complete message. I have never had it complete with such a large file before. The exported file played back perfectly, although there was some loss in image quality compared to the original.

What a huge improvement this version is and while I am quick (some may say too quick) to criticise shortcomings I also give praise where praise is due. And in this respect you and your team deserve the praise for all you hard work in the software's development and listening to user feedback.

    One happy bunny.
  • Thank you for your kind words. I'll make sure they reach the people who deserve that praise.

After I updated my Bitdefender to the newes version the settings are lost.
As I set virbedit to the excluded processes at AVC I can export videos ;-)
  • @Falagar

I am happy to report that I can export videos again! :)

Of course, they must be under 4Gb each - but it's still an improvement! :)

    The quality looks good, too!

I had little time, but did try activating the Gauge viewer from within VE.
I was trying the graph with two parameters (something and BPM).
    Gauge viewer didn't show anything.
Than I had a closer look at the two-parameter graphs as I was missing the combination of "speed and elevation".
It seems the first parameter can be changed, the second one is always BPM.
(looked in a template how the parameters were fed to the gauge)
Please make it possible to change both parameters.
