Picture in Picture

I've picked up a second Virb (not Elite this time) at a bargain price and I'd like to try some picture in picture editing.
I think it's on the drawing board for Virb Edit but until then are there any other recommended (free or cheap would be nice) programs.
I think PA3FBO uses PowerDirector Pro 11.0 any other suggestions?

I only have PDP, so nothing to compare.
I saw the new Pinacle has the ability to make 3D video's, something I could't find on the PDP site.
It would be interesting to make 3D video's from two VIRB's. (I only have one)
