Virb Edit Memory Usage

Windows Task Manager shows that Virb Edit uses around 765 000k of system RAM *while simply downloading video* from my Virb Elite. Is this intentional - seems a little excessive to me. I expect the exporting of video might take up some memory - but for what is effectively a simple file transfer....?

Also, Virb Edit takes about a full minute just to open - and my PC is no slouch! Is this normal? What do other users report?

And (while I'm at it), could an option be added to disable the splash screen when opening VE - it sits right in the middle of my screen, over every other window; it is in the way of anything else I might have open at the time.

First opening of VIRB Edit after cold boot, while running Karpersky full scan: about 7 seconds (inclusive the splash screen)
With VIRB Edit open until start scanning for new clips: about 20 seconds (from connecting the VIRB Elite to the USB cable)

I noticed that VIRB Edit opens every clip and movie that is in the library and gallery.
After it has read it contents it closes all the files.
Maybe you have much more clips than I have.
At this moment I only have 28 clips and one movie.
You could see what happens if you rename your current database and start VIRB Edit.
This is the current database: C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2
The \2 is for the VIRB Edit versions 2.x.x

That would help explain the length of time it takes for Virb Edit to open - but why would they make it do that? Much better for it to read the files only when required to do so, yes?

Well, I have FAR more clips and movies than that! I don't know how many exactly - but certainly in the hundreds.

And neither of these explain the high memory usage while transferring from the Virb to the PC.......

Thats the "advantage" of having a database instead of projects like Pinacle and Powerdirector but that are "just marginal" programs that don't know anything about video editing.....
I delete the database regularly, if you want to save a copy of a project, just rename and save the database.
You can move the videofiles in the projectfile but they need to be put back in the original place.
