2.7.1.0 Can't Find New Clips

Former Member

Newbie here. Just took a few min of video and installed 2.7.1.0.

Software can't find any clips. Using "Import Other" I can navigate to the clip but it won't import.

I can view the video clip using other programs so the clip is good.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I forgot to mention, the video also plays fine on the camera.

If you connect your camera first windows need to detect it.
Than VIRB Edit (when you have it running) will detect the camera and start it's import procedure.

Assuming you have a VIRB (Elite), than you will have the correct MP4 format that VIRB Edit can import.

There is still an issue with the camera not going into or dropping out of storidge mode.
When you connect your camera, push the USB connector firmly into the socket, it's a cause why it sometimes won't work.
Than look at the LED, it should turn green, red and if your battery is charged it will turn green again.
The screen will show a fully charged battery.
When it stays red, a charging battery should be visable on the screen.
If the camera shows a picture of anything in front of the camera, it isn't in storidge mode.
    Disconnect and try again.
You could try another USB port, there seems a problem with USB3.
I have read that someone made USB3 work. He attached the VIRB to a USB-hub that was connected to the USB3 port.
If you can't get the VIRB into storidge mode, contact hardwaresupport (look for FALAGAR's signature) or contact your suppier.

I guess this is now OBE. I had another thread looking for Virb Edit to run on Mac OS10.6 but couldn't find any. I got my hands on a Mac running OS10.7 and installed Virb Edit 2.5.2 and it works!!! That tells me its nothing with the camera or cables. Would be nice to know why it didn't work on the PC.

    I had tried:
    - Reboot computer
    - Connect camera, start software
    - Start software, connect camera

The software does connect to the camera. I can navigate to the files from within Virb Edit or Windows 7. It just won't import.

Something for the developers I guess.

One thing you could try: put the µSD direct into the cardreader of the PC, it should recognise it as a VIRB.
It's not a real solution but it might give the developers a clue what goes wrong.

BTW I'm eager to learn what you mean with OBE (I'm not native english speaking).

I think it's 'Overtaken By Events'

Mike has the correct OBE meaning.

I tried using the card reader and it still didn't work. Also tried using windows to copy the file to the hard drive and it wouldn't work (edit: the file did copy to the hard drive, the software wouldn't import).

I guess the next step would be to reload the software but since I have it working on the Mac I'll probably just delete it off the PC.

    Thanks

Just to be clear; you have checked that:

    • Your Virb is recognised as such by your PC
    • Virb Edit recognises your Virb camera
    • The location where you want to download the video clip/s to has enough space for the clips
    • You have write-access to the location you want to download the video to

When I want to download new clips from my Virb Elite to me PC, I connect the Virb to the computer using the USB cable. Once the camera has been recognised by Windows, I start Virb Edit. When Virb Edit has (finally!) opened, it automatically checks the camera for new video, and then offers to download any it finds. It will not offer to download any previous clips that might still be on the camera.

Yes to all four. I actually manually copied the clip to the folder.

The Mac seems to be working fine so I think I'm done with playing with the PC.

Thanks for the help trying to diagnose the problem.
