Thank You for the update, but audible floppy ticking is still there.....

We haven't looked at this yet, because we simply cannot test it. I am not sure there's a floppy drive in our entire building anymore...

    I'll take a look. If it's a quick fix, we'll get it done, but I can't promise.
  • Does your computer meet the minimum requirements? https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?137309-Minimum-system-requirements

From what you describe it sounds like VIRB Edit has trouble keeping up.

    My specs should be okay:

    Operating system: Windows® 7 Ultimate 64 bit SP1
Processor: Intel Core 17-2860QM CPU @ 2.5GHz running in performance mode
    Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
Graphics memory: 3 GB DDR3 RAM
Hard drive: 75 GB free storage space
Software: Windows Media Player 12 , Microsoft® .NET Framework 4.5.1

I am running VIRB edit on it's own (no other programs running)

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    hi Andy,

What anti-virus software are you running on your machine? Bit Defender is known to cause issues with Virb Edit.

    cheers

    Hi Falagar,
thanks for your reply. It's simple: with the software open and running, I just click on 'modify' and the software crashes and shuts down.

Italian is a beautiful language, but for those not familiar with it, the dialog window says something like: VIRB EDIT is no longer working....
I think the rest is the standard notification you get when you have SW crash.

Below the screen shot, sorry it's in Italian.

Can you do the following for me:

Make sure VIRB Edit is not running. Locate your VIRB Edit data. It should be at C:\Users\{YOUR USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit.

There is a folder in there named Database. Rename that folder to Database.bak.

Now run VIRB Edit again (all your data should have disappeared), import some new clips, and try creating a video.

I am wondering if somehow your database got corrupted. If what I outlined above worked, I'd like to see a copy of your 'Database' folder.

You can always get your old folder back, by removing the new 'Database' folder and renaming Database.bak back to Database.

I agree that should be good enough. Do you see any difference in performance between having the machine plugged into external power and it running on battery? Performance mode on battery might still not give you everything.

It's always running on mains power.
I'm going to try switching of my anti-virus. Will report back
