VIRB Edit Has stopped working windows will close the program etc.....

Former Member
Former Member
tried to import 15 clips from todays trip to a local theme park, during the import process Edit crashed and forced my laptop to restart. Now whenever I attempt to open Edit I just get the standard-
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have unistalled and then reinstalled Edit 2.6.2 and still get the same result?

I have retained Edit 2.6 beta and am still able to open this!

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Can you give me more information about the crash? Do you get an error dialog with more information? What kind of actions are you performing before the crash?

    Hi Falagar.

    Thanks for Your Reply.

Well, I can't tell You exactly what Im doing when it is happening. Sometimes (mostly) it happens when I
just have startet the program, right after the splash screen disapear.
Now I just tryed to reinstall Virb Edit, and then I could actualy import some videos. But then I tryed to
download some of the free content, and the program stopped working Again. Now I cant go on editing
    without a chrash Again.

I got some error logs from the Windows eventviewer, and a dxdiag logfile. Hope You can use these info.
Some of it is in Danish, but maybe Google translate can help You out there ;)

    Kind regards
    Michael.

That looks suspiciously like the crash described by another user here: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?302027-VIRB-Edit-3-1-0-feedback&p=673121#post673121.

That definitely should help us narrow down the cause. Thanks so much for your help.

    VIRB Edit has stoped working

I have had this camera for two years and no problems. Now I get this message and it closes!! I can't do anything but import them and then it messes with the clips. I use the VIRB to make money for my business. I have read the thread... but honestly I am not that good with computers. Why has this just started? and how can it be fixed?

@RiverGod21 https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?362037-VIRB-EDIT-4-1-1-has-stopped-working is a more recent thread discussing this problem. I posted some suggestions and information there. In short:
    1. Make sure the program "Plays.tv" is not installed or running on your computer. This program seems to interfere with VirbEdit and causes it to crash.
    2. Video playback has a bug (introduced in 4.1) that will be fixed in the next release.

Because your business depends on the correct function of the application, you could install an older version of VirbEdit that worked on your computer, and continue to use that until our next release.

    Hi and thanks for replying.

And the next "Release" will be when, my friend?

Sounds to me like you an an incompatibility problem with W10. I EFFING hate W10 now. I had two very powerful Graphics cards that were slightly older, (but would own on MW3), then an Windows10 update came along, something in it was not compatible to my cards and my Computer crashed... for good... I had to buy a new card. Now the down side to this Bud is that I will NEVER go back to the old Brand of card, EVER. So you having this rather large issue needs to be fixed REALLY quickly mate.

I don't have "plays,TV" on my computer and I tried going to n earlier version and thought I might have cracked it, (got all excited) then it crashed and so did my hopes.:(

I can upload them and I have installed, Wondershare video editing. From that I can get the file from my Video library where VIRB places them and use Wondershare to produce the movies. I will wait for the next update, (and that will be)?.
    Regards Shane

Uninstall 4.1.1 and go back to 3.6 - it is stable and works on my W10 machine.

VirbEdit 4.2 has been released. As a matter of policy, we don't announce release dates ahead of time, sorry. As I mentioned, I fixed a bug that should address the issues in this thread. Can those of you who experienced problems with crashes during playback let me know if these problems have been fixed? Thank you!
