VIRB Edit Has stopped working windows will close the program etc.....

tried to import 15 clips from todays trip to a local theme park, during the import process Edit crashed and forced my laptop to restart. Now whenever I attempt to open Edit I just get the standard-
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I have unistalled and then reinstalled Edit 2.6.2 and still get the same result?

I have retained Edit 2.6 beta and am still able to open this!

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Maybe your database has been compromised.
You could try to rename your database and see if that helps (the Beta has a separate database).
The database is in a hidden folder so you might have to change that in explorer.
Something like "extra", "folder options", "display", "show hidden files, maps..." (I have a Dutch windows 7).
You can find the data base here:
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2
Change the 2 in a letter or another number so VIRB Edit can't find what is in the folder.
Than try 2.6.2 again. (If it doesn't work you can always re-rename the directory to the original.)
You'll need to import your clips again.

FYI: The database of the beta is in
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\beta

No problem at all. I've asked the responsible person to change your username. And we are working on a solution for this issue in general.

And I am afraid there is no easy way to check which clip caused the issue. Other then slowly adding clips (RawMovie in VIRB database speak) back in and restarting every time.

If you do find the offending clip (and its meta data), I'd be very interested in getting it so we can properly fix this and prevent the crash.

Thanks for contacting us and I apologize for the trouble.

Yes, hopefully. Please let me know if you are still running into issues.

Your username has been changed as well.

Hi.

Used Garmin Virb Edit 2.9.2 together with Garmin Virb Elite on my laptop but need to use a different computer in the future.
Installed Garmin Virb Edit 2.9.2 on a different computer. As soon as I try to start Virb Edit it crashes. I don't even see the VIRB Edit window.
I've updated .NET to 4.5.2.

The same with some software called GaugeBuilder.exe:

But if i uninstall 2.9.2 and use 2.7.1 it works(but not playback. it crashes with a "Error Detected" and tells me that a newer version is available for download).

It works with:
* 2.6.2
* 2.7.0
* 2.7.1

It does not work with:
* 2.8.0
* 2.9.1
* 2.9.2

Running Windows 7 x64 on both computers. Pro version on laptop and Ultimate on the HP Z800 Workstation.
Laptop uses Intel HD Graphics 4000 and workstation uses two Matrox cards: m9140 and m9120 to drive a couple of monitors. Direct3D Acceleration is not enabled/available on the workstation.
Laptop uses a Intel Core i5-3337U CPU with HT enabled. The workstation uses a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5690 @ 3.47GHz (6 CPUs), ~3.5GHz with HT disabled.

Plus Virb Edit tries every 3 seconds to access my floppy drive on the workstation.
Why?
How do I disable that check?
It only wears out the floppy drive.
It won't find a Virb Elite on my A: drive....

Getting the following crash info(about the same with 2.9.1 and 2.9.2):

The crash report you've posted appears to indicate that your graphics hardware does not support DirectX 10, which is a requirement to use VirbEdit. To be sure what version of DirectX your computer supports, follow the instructions posted here. If DirectX Version: says DirectX 9 or lower, your computer cannot run VirbEdit.

Thank you for your response.

You are quite right. The Matrox m9120 and m9140 are DirectX 9.0c compatible, but not 10+.
I will stay with version 2.7.1 for dumping VIRB sequences plus VIRB GPS data and will look for a more permanent compatible solution to get the full benefit of Garmin VIRB Edit.

I´m getting same error after opening application with version 3.0.1. Tried by deleting “/2” directory as recommended without results. Also verified directX with dxdiag and this system have directX 11. Reinstalled application and it works few times then start to get “… stoped working…” and close

Im also getting this error.

Just bought the Garmin Virbe Elite yesterday (Had a lot of problems with that one two /: ) Now Im
trying to import my video clips in the Virb Edit editor, but the program craches after about 10-15 sec all
time!

I tryed the trick mentioned in this tread, but without any luck. Tryed reinstall, different compatiblitie modes,
but nothing helps!

My PC: Dell LATITUDE E7440 (BIOS and other drivers updated)
Im running Windows 8.1 (Everything is updated)
DirectX is ver 11

It would be realy nice getting Virb Edit up and running, so that I can use the overlay funktions. But for editing
i still got my Adobe Premiere software, so Im not totaly "Down"

Kind regards
Michael (Jinkins)

Can you give me more information about the crash? Do you get an error dialog with more information? What kind of actions are you performing before the crash?
