Like others I am having issues with 2.6.2.0. It shows slow jerky video on my laptop or it may just hang (error report sent). This renders the VIRB elite useless to me. I have ensured that the laptop is set to Balanced power and plugged into the mains.
If I downgrade to the earlier version, it presents a dialog box informing me that I must upgrade to 2.6.2.0. I am at a loss as I can't use the software.
Garmin - please please release a stable product. I will be returning the VIRB to amazon as being "not fit for purpose" if we do not get a timeline of when a stable version of the software will be available. Alternatively, ensure that we can use the earlier version.

Sorry for the ranting but I am just not happy with a product which doesn't work. I use Garmin products for running and cycling without any issues. The VIRB edit software is one of the most flakey items I've come across.

After updating to 2.6.2.0 I can no longer add music from my music library. I can find the mp3 in my music collection, then highlight it but when I press open I get the message "There was an error imputing the music track from xxx.

    Any thoughts?

    Best

I just tried with 2.6.2 and I can add MP3 files successfully. Are you trying to add the same files that worked before? Or is it different files?

I changed power balance to High performance.
But there is a big question: Why do we need more energy for the same performance? VLC player does not have any problem playing these files. Of course... VirbEdit 2.5.1 also does not.
I am trying to believe Garmin will deliver a good software for us that will perform nicely also on notebooks with some power saving.

I agree. And we are working hard to improve matters.

For those of you who are experiencing choppy video playback, can you post which system specs you have? Which CPU, and which graphics card?

I'm also having trouble with play back in editing mode.
    AMD Sempron M100 2Ghz
    2GB RAM

Tried power management and plugged in but its still choppy in edit mode.

An eta on fixes? Or do we need to write to the head of customer services?

    Hello,

Are you able to let us know of a timescale for when the latest working version of the VIRB edit software will be available?

At the moment, we cannot play video nor export it. This makes the camera redundant and we could say Garmin is falsely advertising a product which doesn't do what it claims too. If you cannot fix the issue within an acceptable timeframe, I am inclined to ask for the name of the person in charge of customer service so that I can return the product and obtain a refund. In terms of software testing, I am surprised you don't do any regression testing with new versions? Each new version appears to break earlier fixes and introduce new issues.

We do appreciate that you are working as hard as you can and that you efforts are dedicated to helping us. However, we have limited patience and need someone senior to write to us and provide a detailed update on what Garmin is doing to fix the problems.

    Thank you

Speak for yourself, it's working pretty well for me, maybe the problems with your system.
You seem to forget that the Virb Edit software is free and you tend to get what you pay for.

2.6.2 works fine for me but on desktop PC, far better then previous versions. It still has an issue with adding or changing the gauges dissapearing at all after "touching" them on laptop. I'v noticed some problem when tried to add a gps track manualy to the clip combined with 2 others in the movie. App crashed and after restart couldnt load the map crashing everytime until I deleted the clip before the error window appeared. Had to do this really fast :) After that there was no problem loading the movie again but had to add the clip again.
And btw it would be nice to have an additional timeline in the app for the clips from another Virb or other source. As I own Two Virbs now,I can say that editing the clips form them into 1 movie is a nightmare and clip naming method implemented in the device doesnt help. Anyway I'v just finished first movie from my MTB race and the result is quite promissing so I never give up supporting Garmin in Their hard work
  • I was thinking I was the only one with this problem: "issue with adding or changing the gauges dissapearing at all after "touching" them"
I get the same issue on a windows 8.1 dell laptop. I had to settle to using the built in templates for a recent edit,
I was only able to add one single additional Gauge which remained if I don't touch anything after dragging the gauge
however there is one small detail, when I export the video, this last Gauge is shown in a blue hue as if it was kept selected

Well, 2.6.2 now doesn't error when I try to play a video. The video plays and I can hear it, I just can't see it still. As always it works just fine on my Mac.
    This is extremely disappointing.
