My Virb Elite with 3.7 firmware creates multiple gpx files on longer rides to correspond to the video segments it records. A one-hour ride gets me 3 videos and 3 gpx files.

When I use Virb Edit, each video segment/gpx file starts the distance overlay over at 0. Is there any way to get the Virb to record a single gpx file for the ride? I understand the need for multiple video segments due to file size. Alternatively, is there a way for Virb Edit to display cumulative distance over the multiple gpx files?

VIRB Edit should already be doing that. Did you import the files from the VIRB Elite directly or did you copy them manually to your hard drive and imported them after?

Fired up Virb Edit, it finds the Virb Elite and asks to import new videos, which I let it do.

And if you create a new video with the 3 clips do you get correct duration and elapsed time?

Do you mean by exporting the video? No, on export it still restarts at 0 when the next clip is playing.

Something isn't working as I would expect. There is a work-around that might fix what you are seeing.

Find the .fit file that was written while you were recording the 3 clips in question. It should be in the Garmin/Activity folder of your SD card. Use the date and time of your clips to find the right file.

Then replace the GPS track for the 3 clips with the .fit file. Then you should see duration and elapsed time across clips. Note: some data (like acceleration) is not included in the .fit file, so you won't be able to see it.

All this stuff is supposed to happen automatically, we'll take a look what might be wrong.

Just FYI, my Virb Edit is 2.5.1.0 and it says it is up to date.

I just took a look at this and found a bug that might have prevented the proper fit file being matched (which is what allows for cross-clip duration & elapsed time). That will go into 2.6, so I'll be curious if that works any better for you.

I cannot give a date, but 2.6 shouldn't be too far out.
