Virb Edit: How to back up / archive old footage and data?

There is no good solution for this at the moment. You can export the GPX/FIT file for each clip and then store in along with the original clip. But that's a manual and tedious process.

We should be able to come up with something.

on A macbookpro, it is rapidly full!!!

You could copy the video's in the download directory (see settings) to your external HDD. (Remember their location, make a note in a .txt file)
Copy the entire database to the same spot.

For example, my download directory is B:\VIRB RawMovies (it's an internal 1TB drive)
My database is in : C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\
My external HDD is M:

In this case of saving my library (and video's) I would make a directory on the external drive and call it
M:\VIRB Backup\20140921\
I would copy the database to M:\VIRB Backup\20140921\2\
And all the video's to M:\VIRB Backup\20140921\Movies\
In M:\VIRB Backup\20140921\ I would place a text file (.txt or .doc) with the text:

- Database: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\
- Video's: B:\VIRB RawMovies

In this way I would know where I should put my files when I want them to put back.
The only problem I can see is when we go to VIRB Edit 3.x and the database is called
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\3\

For your MAC you need to find the corresponding locations, I'm using Win7.

Another trick is to copy all data that is on your VIRB's SD before you whipe it.
Copy it every time to a seperate (recognisable) directory.
When you need the files, you can import the data manually or put them on a (virtual) SD so VIRB Edit would recognise it as a VIRB.
In this case you can easily delete the database and the download directory, but you will loose the recepy for the completed movies.

Backing up Virb Edit Projects Movies

Was there any resolution to this question? My Macbook hard drive is almost full and I'd like to be able to backup all the hard work and time that has gone into creating movies in Virb Edit.

There is a backup/restore solution for data files in VIRB Edit now.

It only backs up G-Metrix and video projects, however. You will have to backup the actual videos and photos yourself (but VIRB Edit will assist you in linking them back up).
