I ride several times per day, and record each ride. At the end of the day I download all the clips to my computer using Virb Edit.
Virb Edit shows all individual clips, grouped together by date. This is fairly convenient.
However, what I prefer to do is to create movies for each ride, showing data (overlaid on the video), comprising all the clips from that ride. If I want to view a particular ride, I view the movie - not each individual clip from which the movie has been made. The movie then already has all data, visible on the screen - whereas the individual clips do not. Another advantage is that I have a movie name which actually means something - not just 'Virbxxxx' - which is not very convenient when searching for a particular recording.
I do not actually export the movie - I just get it ready for exporting, and give it a suitable (and descriptive) name. I only export the movie if I want to upload it somewhere. And, if in the future I want to export it, it is already prepared - all I have to do is hit the 'Export' button. This system is very convenient for me.
The list of movies is shown in the Video Gallery as a 'ribbon' across the middle of the screen. As this ribbon gets longer and longer with the addition of more and more movies, one must scroll left / right further and further to find a particular movie.
My suggestion is to have some control over how this list of movies is displayed. Now, we have zero control - they are displayed in a single row, from left to right, ordered by movie-name, showing thumbnails.
I would like to have options for:
1) Sort order (ascending / descending)
2) Sort priority (by movie name, date created, total movie size, total movie time, movie resolution, etc)
3) Display. At present we have only a thumbnail of the movie, with the movie name below it. It would be convenient to be able to display (for example) only the movie name, in a list - something like the various options in Windows Explorer for displaying file names (list, details, content, thumbnails, icons, etc) - as well as displaying this information in more than 1 row and more than 1 column (as can be done in Windows Explorer, depending on which view one is using).
4) Search - to be able to type the first few letters of a movie name to search for all movies starting with these letters. Or at least, for the list to automatically move to and select the first movie in the list which starts with those letters, as one types them.
Essentially, what I'm asking for is some basic Windows Explorer functionality with the list of movies.
Please consider adding some functionality to the video gallery.
