I was glad to see the iOS app now has the button to command the VIRB Elite to take a photo.
I was then sad to see the following behavior:
When the Ipad WiFi is connected to the VIRB, and the camera image is displayed on the screen, pressing the new "snapshot" button sadly causes the "REC" slider control to disappear.
This happens if the VIRB is idle, or if it is recording.
If the VIRB is idle, you can access the settings "gear" in the upper left of the app, then press "Done". Voila - the REC slider control has returned. You can also leave the VIRB app (4 finger squeeze close gesture) - and restart it.
If the VIRB is actually recording video when you press the button, the only way to get the slider back is to leave the VIRB app and return.
100% repeatable on iPad 2.
