Lap times on screen?

Hi there folks, I know I've been out of it for a little while but I got the video bug again and playing with VirbEdit which I just love the latest updates.

1 thing I don't think I have seen is a if I'm in a race and have laps is there a way to display the number of laps done and total number of laps? maybe even having the lap times up on screen as you complete them?

Just a little idea that popped in my head while playing with the editor this morning

We'd like to do that in a future update.

guess this would have to come from a file imported from an edge or similar other device ? or can you do laps on the VIRB ?!

If you have a VIRB you need a track from another source OR you need to mark start and finish every round by hand.
If you have a VIRB Elite, it has a GPS and makes a track, so that would do.

Still with using a track, the question is how close would you need to get to the start/finish to let it count, it could be loops within loops.
When you do a round in a plane or walking, the distance to the waypoint will vary.
    Something for the developers.:)

We could use lap data from FIT files, try to detect laps ourselves, or have the user be able to define where laps start.
  • +1 I have the same request... I have been recording my Criteriums and the lap feature would be awesome.

For racing, I always have autolap set on my Edge 500 based on start position, so every time I roll through start/finish it takes a split. I would think this would be as simple as putting that feature (autolap) in the virb elite (or, its already there if you merge your Edge fit file). Then make a gadget that displays laps... BONUS: If you can make the laps decrement on the screen, but lap #/total laps (Lap 7 of 34) would be just fine. Follow me on twitter @ncmossing and/or youtube (ncmossing) to catch the latest videos!
