Hmmm, can't get 2.5 to install on my Windows 7 machine for some reason, I keep getting this error message when I run the installation program.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Dex.

As a work-around, you should be able to extract the installer manually from the download file with 7zip or a similar program and run the installer that way.

    I apologize about the trouble.
  • Great, thanks very much, that has sorted it :-)

    Regards,

    Dex.

I guess all these updates would be cool...if I could even WATCH the video on Virb Edit. I get NOTHING but error playing this video. Worthless. At least Garmin could write software for their product that actually worked. Sad.

VIRB Edit works for a lot of people, besides although were using it the program is still being developed.
You could help yourself by helping the developers solve the problem you're having.
Give them some information about the operatingsystem and the hardware you're working with.

My system is no different than many others. W7 Home Premium OS, Intel HD 3000 card (updated driver), 8GB RAM, Intel i7 processor. Every video is the same thing, "error in playing this video".
  • Probably your video driver is at fault. Try turning off video acceleration, or turn it on if it's off.
  • Added a few titles to an existing video, but when I export it, the programme crashes every time. Any ideas on what might cause that?

Lots of crashes here too. I finally got it to export when I bypassed by video drivers by using remote desktop to access my computer from work. Then it seemed to work fine.

You could try the same thing by uninstalling your video drivers, running the program then re-installing them after.

It seems both Win and Mac version rename and re-time/date clips:
    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?90656-filenames-and-filedates-when-importing&p=313447#post313447

The clips seem to show up in the correct month and day in VIRB Edit.
But I normally import the clips the same day as I make them.

It's the "Windows" time and date that is changed, making sorting of the clip directory impossible.
Sorting by name won't work as the VIRB restarts counting form 001 when all the files on the µSD are removed.
Soting by time/date won't work as the sequence of importing clips is random. So the clips show up in order of importing, not by making.

This version, like the one before it, doesn't work at all for me ... "Error playing video" just as before. I've given my hardware and software configuration before. Every other video app works fine, and playing Virb video files using other tools works just fine too.
