virb and bike riding, what display do you use

I do not have another garmin, i have the virb, my phone, and wheel sensor mount cheapo computer.

What do most of you use on the virb for display? Can you customize what info you want to show?

I have not found a detailed manual for the virb like my go pro had, just some 12 page getting started intro manual.

Here you can find the manual and the quickstart guide, it's all there is, (as taken from the Garmin site).

I only use the display to see if the camera still works.
I use it on top of my motorcyclehelmet, so can't help you with your first question.

Is there anyway to get the current speed to display? Or the value of one of the sensors? That would be really convenient.

When i'm cycling, time elapse or a visual gyro is pretty useless. But Speedometer would boost this products value. Sort of like what I had on my Fenix.
  • Pretty clearly you haven't read the manual that PA3FBO pointed you to. It's in there.

The VIRB Elite isn't really made to be a cycling GPS, although it can be a very poor one if necessary. Your Fenix was much better as a cycling GPS. Most of us probably have something else (I have an Edge 800) that performs the cycling GPS function, so we really don't need to display anything on the VIRB. I've used the Dashboard on the VIRB once or twice, but what I really want the VIRB to show me is what it's recording at the moment, so that's what I display. My VIRB Elite is fairly reliable these days, but it has frozen a few times in the last 4 months, so I want to make sure it's still working rather than using it as a one field display. When I use the VIRB for cross country skiing, it's out of sight anyway (mounted on my head), so it doesn't matter what it's displaying. Many people use their VIRB's out of sight like that.

Page 7 of the user manual shows the displays available, speed, average speed & Max speed is one option.

Great, i was confusing the info on page three with the levelling device as the dashboard options.
