Cockpit Recording with VIRB Elite

Sorry, not sure if this should go here or not, but I could not find a section for the VIRB device itself.

I am interested in recording from inside an airplane cockpit with a VIRB Elite and have come across a couple problems.

First off, I would also like record audio from the intercom / ATC communications with the video, and it appears as though there is a specialty cable now available for this, but it takes the USB port I would like to use to power the VIRB over a long flight (the memory card will far outlast the battery). Is there any sort of "Y" splitter that would allow me to both charge and use the audio-in capabilities of the 10-pin mini USB port?

Secondly, I am also experiencing the issue with shooting in 60FPS "Fast HD" mode causing the GPS data to become off-sync with the video. This seems to be exacerbated if I do any sort of video trimming with VIRB Edit. I saw in another post that this has been identified and should be fixed in the next release of VIRB Edit. I am anxiously awaiting this as easy GPS data overlay is the prime reason I chose the VIRB Elite over a competitor.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!
