Virb and Garmin 800 autopause

Ok, I have a question, I'm not sure if I'm doing this right or not, and since my last video was "fast" and it was completely hozed for any gps data, I wanted to ask here before changing anything else.

I have been using Garmin gps's since my first edge 205, and have always set them to autopause. This is nice because when I'm at red lights, or stop signs, my garmin isn't hozing my average speed.

However, I am now using the garmin as the "remote" for my Virb basic, and it seems this messes up the video to gps sync log. I had thought the unit would simply read the speed as zero, and not move forward with the gps/video sync of cadence, etc, till it started again, but I'm now wondering if it's not actually seeing zeros for that paused gps time, but rather just, for lack of a better word, skipping it.

I plan to test this with a little lap around my house, as soon as the rain stops that is, where I will do one lap with the autopause on, and I will stop halfway though and wait for one min, and the second time I will do the same thing, but with autopause off. While I am waiting to try this experiment, could anyone here let me know their results with this setting?

Thanks!
