    Try re-installing.
Try updating your graphics card driver.

Did you run earlier versions successfully?

Make sure you are running the most recent version: http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=6591
  • I'm getting the same error, Virb Edit will not recognize my Virb Elite and shuts down no matter what I do within a few minutes. I purchased my Virb last week, the first time I tried Virb Edit, Friday, it worked. I trided it a number of times since then and no luck. I have updated my computer, hard reset the Virb, uninstalled / reinstalled Virb Edit. I can access the videos on the Virb through Window, so I am connecting and the videos are there. Any ideas?

So it doesn't go away right after you start it, but only after a few minutes? Is there any error message?
  • There is a message that an error occured and that it needs to shut down. There is a pop up that gives the option of sending information about the crash. I have sent one of these in. I also installed Virb Edit on another machine and am having the same issue.
  • Here is the content of the "Error Detected" Popup:

How many clips do you have in your library? And how many tracks?

Does it crash if you don't connect the camera? The crash you linked is while we are trying to load the GarminDevice.xml file from the camera.
  • It seems to crash only when connected to the camera. Are you asking how many clips are on the computer or the camera? One computer has none, the other about six. What are tracks, GPS files? If so, shouldn't there be an equal amount, or is that why your asking.

Also, I've seen in other posts that crashes where the battery is pulled cause problems with the camera. I've had to do that more than a few times. No matter how long I hold the power button, the camera won't turn off.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

Tracks are how the camera records where you are and how fast you were going etc. Normally the amount of tracks and clips should be the same, but not necessarily.

So when you get the crash, is it always the same error message? The one you posted above?

Could you attach the GarminDevice.xml file from your VIRB? It's located in the Garmin folder.
  • I transfered all files on the camera to the computer manually and was able to import clips / create a video. I erased all files on the camera and was then able to record a video and import it. When I transfered the files back to the camera the error returned. It would appear one of the videos or gps files are corrupt, is there any way to isolate the problem file?

When you say "When I transfered the files back to the camera" which files are you transferring and where to?
