Power Meyer / cadence data not appearing in Virb edit

Hi all

I have a Garmin Elite connected to a Stages power mater and to a Garmin cadence / speed sensor. The cadence magnet for the speed / cadence sensor has been removed as cadence is supplied by the stages meter. This works fine on my Garmin 810.

In virb edit no power or cadence data appears. Heart rate / speed / elevation all fine.

Any work around suggestions?

This must be about the 10th bug or issue I've had with the camera. It REALLY does not feel like a finished tested product at all.

    Have you tried opening one of the GPX files to see if the data is in there? You can find the datafiles at "C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\VIRB Edit\Database\2\RawMovies".

    If the data isn't being captured, you need to try to pair them again. When you set up your Virb to add the Ant+ devices, your Power Meter may not have been on so the Power/Cadence didn't get paired.

    Here is a sample from mine:
    <trkpt lat="28.826443003490567" lon="-81.322915367782116">
    <ele>2</ele>

    <extensions>
    <gpxtpx:TrackPointExtension>
    <gpxtpx:wtemp>21</gpxtpx:wtemp>
    <gpxtpx:hr>121</gpxtpx:hr>
    <gpxtpx:cad>99</gpxtpx:cad>
    </gpxtpx:TrackPointExtension>
    <gpxx:TrackPointExtension>
    <gpxx:Temperature>21</gpxx:Temperature>
    </gpxx:TrackPointExtension>
    <pwr:PowerInWatts xmlns:pwr="www.garmin.com/.../pwr:PowerInWatts>
    </extensions>
    </trkpt>
  • The power meter was definitely paired. It actually paired with the Virb much easier than with my Garmin 810. I'll have a look at the data when I get back to my computer. So far I have re-paired and removed the cadence sensor in case that was confusing things. I'll see if I have any data when I get home tonight.
  • I have progress of sorts. I have some power / cadence information recorded as you can see here:

    www.youtube.com/watch

    but only a very few seconds.

    Looking at the GPX file there are parts that have a lot of power data (but an AWFUL lot of zeros) and parts that are missing the power completely.

    The camera is obviously paired properly, it's just not recording most of the data.
  • Last night I wiped my SD card and factory reset the camera. Still having issues.

    Really very disappointed with this. Come on Garmin, sort it out.

    Same problem, though mine works maybe 25% of the time.

    I use full Garmin ANT+ Cadence/Speed/HRM sensors. Watching video, they will be paired and working fine, then simply dropping out at the same time. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes half an hour (randomly).

    I was thinking it might be due to the helmet mount and distance to sensors while standing, however the dropping out is completely random. Sitting, standing, makes no difference. All latest firmware and VIRB Edit software.

    Definitely feels Beta, particularly with all the VIRB Edit bugs. Basically at the moment the extra $100 for the GPS version feels like it was completely wasted.
  • I now have my Elite on my handlebars which seems to have solved the problem. Have a basic on my rear pannier and another basin on the way for my helmet.

    Power and cadence dropping out on virbe elite

    Having same issues with power and cadence data stopping. Mine stopped after about 8min. Calibrated the virb to the power tap power meter ok. Are you now saying i have to re-pair devices before every ride? This is only on my second ride with the virbe the first ride yesterday went ok. Any further help from garmin?

    Is there a way to add data from my garmin 500 to the virb to get the overlays of power and cadence to work?

    Did you try adding the FIT file from your Edge 500 to your clip? Create a video with a clip, then go to the Edit tab and choose 'Replace', then find the FIT file. Now you should see cadence and power from the FIT file on your video.
