VIRB Edit 2.3.2.0 error popup then closing when play clip

In VIRB Edit 2.3.2.0 when I attempt to play a clip the following error pops up: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library- Runtime Error! Program: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. When I click OK VIRB Edit closes.

When launching VIRB Edit, if I use Run as Administrator it usually works OK. If I start it normally it generally fails this way.

System is Dell XPS 8700, I7, Windows 8, 8GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 635. I believe the video driver is up to date.

Interesting observation about running as Administrator. That would be a curious connection.

I've seen this error as well, it's just a bit difficult to chase down. We definitely are looking into fixing it (soon hopefully).

Thanks for letting us know. I apologize for the trouble.

I have the exact same problem. Virb Edit 2.3.2.0, import a clip, click on it to play, and get the VC++ error message followed by program exit.
Win 8.1 - running as Administrator (otherwise, with Virb Edit 2.3.1, I got some other mysterious error message).

The error screen looks like this:

For those with playback issues: does it seem to make a difference if you have overlays disabled? You can disable them on the Edit page, Edit tab, and then toggle off 'Data Overlays'.
  • Thanks for your assistance.
If you tell me where the Edit page is, I'll check about the Data Overlays. The only clickable item in the top menu bar is "About".

either click on 'create a video' or click on one of the videos you've already created - Edit will appear at the bottom of the window

One of my videos was created without overlays and it generates the same error. I can usually get any clip or video to play the first time I run VIRB Edit after a reboot. On subsequent runs of the app I need to use the Run as Administrator option.

I question some of the user interface decisions on this product. The bottom of a window is not where people are familiar with finding menus.

Update on the thread topic: Yesterday I was able to play a new video clip using Virb Edit - I made no changes to the computer setup or program options other than rebooting the computer (Win 8.1). I had also done a hard-restart on the Virb itself - it locked up and was unresponsive after sliding the video button to the Off position.
