Good! Exported a 16 minute 2GB (source filesize) video file with one of the preset overlays, no issues with the export process.

However there are some strange bugs found:

    1. Fullscreen playback

When playing any type of video listed in the gallery (both "created" gallery videos and those imported into the clip library), clicking to expand to full screen causes it to stop playing, and after a few seconds, the video image greys with a message

"There was an error playing the video"

It seems to happen with all videos, anywhere in the video (I've successfully navigated to different times in the default non-fullscreen view).
I can close the playback popup and continue as normal with choosing another video to play.

    2. Exported vid gauges does not match those played back within Virb Edit

I noticed this when playing back the newly exported video.
The g-force and reported speeds looked strange. Checking back on the playback within Virb Edit where the g-forces and speed reflect what was happening, there are certainly discrepancies in the exported video.

I managed to run both the virb edit playback and exported video alongside in sync (as close to the frame as I could manage!), and grabbed a screenshot:
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7IjZCkmMh6CUkIybGtTWWZ6Y3c/edit

The speeds were sometimes off by 3-4 kph, plus the G-forces in the exported video merely looked like they were derived from the GPS speed (or not) - or the lat+acceleration dot goes around in a complete and smooth circle when the boat is obviously not rocking around in a circle, and otherwise doesn't reflect the actual g-force data.

So the file export issue has been resolved, but there are exporting issues with the overlay data.

    1. There are definitely still some remaining playback issues as well. We are working on it.

    2. The g-Force data is still a bit erratic, we are looking into that for sure. But the difference between playback and export is a bit more complicated. When exporting, we do write out more data. We update the gauges every frame (30ish times per second) whereas during playback for performance reasons we only do it 4(?) times a second, so some differences would be expected (especially when speed changes a lot the playback gauge might only show 30 20 10, whereas the video might show 30 25 20 15 10). So are you sure the gauges are off? From your example it actually looks very close to me. We could use a better demonstration there. You could also just use BaseCamp, load up the track and compare the speed values that way (no g-Force support in BaseCamp).

I am very sorry to hear that.

Are you trying to export videos with more than 1 clip in them? Could you try to just export 1 clip? (Just testing a theory here.)
  • I'm not the one who complained about Export problems, but for the record, I had 4 separate clips in my successful export.

Yeah, it's not that it always fails, but if it does it always seems to be a memory spike at the boundary between two clips. If the spike is too high, export fails.

If single-clip exports also fail, then it's something else than what we are already looking into.

The playback within Virb Edit is more accurate, and the gauges displayed within Virb Edit match the data from my 910Xt watch more closely.
I could upload the video to youtube, but I don't have the screencast software to record Virb Edit's playback. It's quite different in places. The G-force gauges in the export does not really make sense part of the time.
The screenshot isn't the best, so I've taken the time to make sure these frames are exactly the same:

I can upload the exported video to Youtube (or an alternative location) if it helps.

    Thanks for the new version!
    One minor request:
In the clip Library, I would love to be able to select multiple clips to delete (or move). For whatever reason my VIRB Elite tends to take a short video whenever it gets fresh power, so I have a lot of clips to delete from the library.
  • I've tried with one clip & with few clips but i'have every the same problem.
I've tried also with or without gauges but nothing...
Today i try to update video drives...

    Is possibile a RAM problem?
I've 1GB on board into the GeForce & 4 GB into the motherboard.
    Thx for your interst...

  • Still not working for me I'm afraid.

Attached a screenshot of the error message I 'm getting each time. Its not "Export" specific, but Virb Edit just crashes each time.

I can successfully export when I have no Gauge Overlays, so Overlays set to "None". But when I put in any overlays, whether they are standard templates or custom, it crashes. I've tested with videos ranging from 3 mins to 18 mins, same result each time.

    Dex.
  • Just for precision with the version 2.2.5 i export the videos with 1 or more clips and with or without gauges.
    Thx
