Thank you for providing more information.

I would wager the clips from your cell phone are probably smaller (file size wise, resolution wise, bit-rate wise), so that your machine plays them fine.

VIRB videos are usually pretty large and we are seeing these playback issues caused by performance bottlenecks with some hardware. Laptops or older machines with weak or no dedicated graphics cards seem to have the most trouble.

Or the mobile videos use a different codec that your PC is happy with.

Could you tell me the exact model of that laptop, so I can look up the specs? And is that Windows 8, or Windows 8.1?

My cellphone is an HTC 8X.
The Laptop: Fujitsu A510, (not expensive)
My main PC never had problems handling Movies.

I can play the Clips in VLC but not in Virb Edit.

Thanks for a great piece of software program and in responding so quickly and corrects any errors with a pace rarely seen . Thanks!
I have followed the threads , read them I have been able to use Virb Editor without major problems .
The problems that have been , are not necessarily Virb Editor that has caused them, but for example . a small "thing" that can " Shut down" many programs : My language Scandinavian, where there are special characters that do not exist in English. Therefore, I avoid using these for video or folders.

There may also be errors in Gpx file from my Garmin 800, so once in a while it pays to remove one of the gauges can be seen in the preview if there is a 100% increase, there is probably something wrong with gpx

Of course, there may be conflicts with other programs, but I use fortunately a secondary PC for editing, where it is possible to remove them and test.

The PC I use is an old one:
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600 + 2.40 GHz, 6 GB Ram
    Windows 8.1

Since I do not have a Virb camera yet, I will not ask questions or request, but telling that it is a good program that works. Good work!
Not to promote my video, but virB edit that gives video a whole new dimmension. Take a look: http://youtu.be/RTT9EbImoZM

    Thank you for your feedback!

I would like to get issues with non-English characters fixed, would you mind letting me know where you ran into issues? Preferably with exact steps how you could reproduce the problem? That's something we should be able to fix.

    Nice run on that video!

    Thanks.
I have tried to reproduce the problem, but it seems either that the latest version has resolved this. Otherwise, it might be because I changed my user on windows since my first name contained the Danish letter Ø
It seems that the problem does not exist anymore. Whether it was the user name change or update of Virb Edit, which solved the problem is unknown

I get now and then the "Runtime Error" it is not related to the the problem above.
But get the error and Virb Edit shut down, However start up again right after is not a problem.

The error occurs maybe because like so many others, I have many video clips that are moved around in folders or even deleted
So if these clips have been imported to "Virb Library". Can Virb find them when the path is changed? If not. Is that why it crashes?

Will it be possible in an update to tick when you want to delete many clips in the library?

    thanks

The "Runtime Error" is something we are still trying to chase down. I do not think it's related to missing videos, but I could be wrong.

We have some changes in 2.4 that will hopefully handle missing clips more gracefully. If a clip is missing VIRB Edit should tell you when you try to play or edit the video. You can then try to locate the missing clip, or remove the clip from the video.

We are looking into ways to delete more than 1 clip at a time, but that's not slated for any current release, so it might take a little longer.

Again, thank you for your feedback.

    Maybe screenshot helps
First if I rename in a folder and start Virb Edit, there will be a "loading" icon and if I play a video or otherwise, comes "Runtime Error. Then I can start Virb Editor again and now there" the question mark "when pressed asks me if I want to find" the missing clip. Find it and then it works alright

    Thanks for the follow-up.

The little loading icon on the first screenshot is for the track actually. Seeing the question mark icon and the dialog to locate the file should be the expected behavior.

So, when do you move / delete the file? While VIRB Edit is running?

    Short version :-)
Delete / Move -> Start Virb Editor ---> Video're trying to load (icon) -> Runtime Error -> Virb Editor shuts down ---> Restarts Virb Editor -> It Works
